I've gone property marking CRAZY!
Currently trying out doing a new thing every day...
I'm now down to practicing engraving on my 2TB Lacie Hard Drives!

Follow along in real time to see if I permanently damage the delicate hard drive mechanism inside
(Spoiler: I don't, this video is stored on it),
and try out some engraving techniques to stop the engraver sliding all over its metal case.

HOW TO ENGRAVE A LACiE HARD DRIVE

TRANSCRIPT: (CLICK PLAY ON THE VIDEO ABOVE)

Hello welcome back to the happy hut my name is Neil Mossey, and the way that I'm going to make Britain a bit better today in this video is to mark my property

THIS IS THE TRANSCRIPT - CLICK PLAY ON THE VIDEO ABOVE!

I'm gonna write my name on my precious LaCie hard drives - look I wrote the phone number on my LaCie, it's completely rubbed off... that's my daughter, stuck that on

I think that might get peeled off and and this is the fear isn't it?

We don't put our name on stuff because we think that if it is stolen then then they'll also have our personal contact details as well as the thing they've nicked
But if they've nicked the thing, that thing's got all my life details on anyway so I might as well give someone the chance to do the right thing and to try to return it.

And when I've lost stuff, stuff has pretty much managed to get back to me because I've written my name on it like a six-year-old and I'm gonna do that today
I'm gonna actually write it like a six year old because I'm not an expert engraver!

I try my best but I'm practicing and I'm trying to get better and if I do that on camera then maybe I can help you get better at engraving too - but the the biggest fear obviously is that these are really precious delicate of machines

I don't know, maybe the vibrations might somehow destroy the hard drive mechanism or maybe I'll dig too deep in the hard drive and ruin it that way
By the way, this thing here is like a little strip of velcro that I've put on so that I keep the cable with the drive because I can never find that - I've sort of tucked it into the bumper there

You know I need to put this disclaimer as well - I call them LaCies (Lacey's)
I know it pronounced lassie but they're LaCies!

And if that irritates you I apologize but I'm gonna engrave my LaCies now!
So I've made a engraving video before and I'll put a link to it in the in the corner there if you click on the "i"
These aren't exciting videos!

I'm just sharing my journey along the way - if it helps someone then that's good
I hope it does, but today we're going to engrave the LaCie and the and the MacBook Pro
I'll start with I start with the LaCie

Now I've chosen the smallest ball engraver - I learnt this last time - if I write my name on the drive first, and then do it sideways I think - because I don't think I'm going to get it all in that way

I do it nice and big and this is just to guide my lettering as I go, and I'm putting my Twitter handle on so I hope that will help someone return it to me - and I'll put my phone number down here but I'm not quite ready yet to share my my phone number with the world - but I'll show you how it goes with the with the name

The other thing I learned last time was eye protection - I've got some glasses on
I guess we're "go" so switch the engraver on
I'm gonna hold it like a pen and you do it very gently first just to not destroy the hard drive case
[ENGRAVING NOISES]

That's a problem because the ball is so small it just skipped all over the surface
It's not given a very clean engraving, so I wonder if I should use the bigger one?

But my fear with using the bigger ball on here is that it will just go straight through and destroy the the hard drive and I'm not doing it on the side I mean the side would be stronger but it's hidden and I just want someone, if you find it on the street or on a train carriage or toilets that they'd be able to instantly see where they can get it back to me

I'm doing it on the new drive so if it destroys it I would only have lost not very much material and I'll plug it into my macbook to test it before I do the second one

Let's get a bigger engraver
Shall I get the super big one?
I'll get the super big one
Oh, I don't know if I should do this

So you hold down the clutch and can turn the spindle that holds the thing, and then you can put it in like that... and do it up.
If you don't hold that down the thing just spins around it doesn't do anything
There we go, so that's it now
Oh this is the big one - going in
[ENGRAVING NOISE]

Now cuz it's bigger I need my lettering to be much bigger than this
so I have to write it again I think
What I could do is just write it one letter at a time

So if I rub the name off... oh, what a mess...
PHPEWAH! There's a spider on it!

But don't be alarmed you can clean this up with some surgical spirit

Okay I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go free-form I think.
[ENGRAVING NOISE]

I just don't want to go too deep - that's why I want to do this on camera so that you can learn from my mistakes.
Here we go.
[ENGRAVING NOISE]

That's about as deep as I wanna get
[ENGRAVING NOISE]

Right yeah you really do need the bigger needle to do this.
[ENGRAVING NOISE]

Just hope that the vibrations aren't killing the hard drive
[ENGRAVING NOISE]

Oh and what seems to be working is if you just hold it in place and not move it very quickly - just hold the engraver very gently and move it very slowly - that seems to etch the letter better than by digging deep and writing quickly, even though everything in my brain is saying "do this quickly!" because you're gonna destroy the Lacie!

Let's keep going okay
[ENGRAVING NOISE]

And I had a bit of a scare before Christmas I'm working with a professional video editor - someone who actually does this for a living - and he lost a precious drive!
A drive fell out of his bag and it was out in the world for about two weeks.

It had the name and phone number written on to it but it's easy to remove
I've got pretty much my life's work on here - I've got it backed up, I think - over some other hard drives

But this one's a fairly new one so wanted to engrave it now before the time when it becomes super precious and I would lose everything
[ENGRAVING NOISE]

Keep thinking that's the off button!
It's not.

Well, don't know if you see that
I don't know if it's coming across - all the - the shavings aren't that healthy

So I'm gonna try and blow them off but I'm... I'm pleased with that
Now I think I'd want to dig deeper just to make sure that it doesn't just rub off but the vibrations of this - I'm really worried that it's going to damage the thing inside

But I might take this off just to clean it properly - and see what it looks like
And I'll just clean the case

Probably shouldn't be breathing it in either
Ahh, the things we do for our stuff and property

I can plug this in now to my MacBook Pro to make sure that it still works
So, moment of truth... I'm on the other camera now

And plug it in - does the Lacie appear?
YES!

There it is
Shall I double-click on it?
There you go

It looks like I didn't destroy my Lacie - I clearly didn't dig deep enough with my name.
Oh, that's awesome.
What precious objects of yours would you engrave?

Maybe I could do them here on the channel!
Because I seem to get better each time I do this

Why not let me know that you reached this point by hitting the thumbs up or even better if you hit subscribe it helps take us closer to 1000 subscribers, when YouTube starts to pay us for these videos.

I'll take these off - and thanks for your comments and I'll see you on the next "Make Britain a bit better"... vlog.

TRANSCRIPT: (CLICK PLAY ON THE VIDEO ABOVE)
Hello, I'm Neil, I hope this video helps - I'm standing in a weird position at the moment because I've got two cameras...
I absolutely love vlogging with the DJI Osmo pocket
and so I thought I'd make a video to see how the different microphones you could plug in work and sound with the Osmo pocket

THIS IS THE TRANSCRIPT - CLICK PLAY ON THE VIDEO ABOVE!

This is the built-in microphone for the Osmo pocket that you're listening to right now
I'm trying to talk a lot so that you can get a sense of what it sounds like, but I've also got the Osmo Pocket in a PolarPro cage.

I'll just go to the other camera there for a second which is... has been really helpful
I'm just gonna hand hold it now mainly because the mic adapter that I'll show you in a minute - that can clash with some tripod situations
The way I've got around it is with a polar Pro grip - I can show you how that works

Just put this into the cage. Like that. And because the grip cage has 2 tripod mounts, I've mounted it on the phone side. And that's the grip I usually use for walking around - I've got it on top of a tripod.
Let's see how it sounds indoors!

So here we are indoors - this is how the DJI Osmo pocket sounds without any external microphone plugged in - in a room - a small room - it's very wooden with a lot of hard surfaces

What I wanted to do is to give you a full sense of how the Osmo pocket sounds straight out of the box, and I also wanted to give you enough time to hear what it sounds like with each of the microphones

So firstly if you don't have an Osmo pocket already and maybe you're watching this video just to see how the Osmo pocket sounds... firstly you will need one of these which is a DJI mic adapter for the Osmo pocket

It's about 35 pounds here in the UK
there are links to all of this in the description but what I wanted to show you was how these other microphones sound

These are other microphones that I use and I love them
Each has their own advantages and drawbacks
The first I'm going to show you is the EDUTIGE etm-001

This is an absolutely tiny microphone - it's about the size of a 3.5mm jack
I'll show you the SARAMONIC SR-XM1
Now I've used this loads on my GoPro Hero5 and what I love about it is it's like a mini shotgun mic but it also can be bent it

It can be turned in the direction that you want it to point that's a great one
And you won't recognize this because it will be wearing this which is a Comica dead kitten or a mini deadcat and it stops wind noise so that will be under that

And finally this clip-on lavalier mic the Boya BY-M1 which comes with a battery and a cable but sounds really good
now the next microphone I'm going to show you is the EDUTIGE - No-one I know can say this properly it's the EDUTIGE etm001 because it just sort of points wherever it plugs in obviously if I just plugged it straight into the mic adapter it would just point downwards to the to the floor which I don't really want so I've got this L-shaped Jack just to sort of point in the right direction

Now it's not a directional microphone and I'll talk about that in a second
So I'm going to plug it in like this - there we go - so flip the Osmo pocket round
So I've got the EDUTIGE etm-001 plugged in and I've got it on this L-shaped 3.5mm jack adapter and this is how it sounds
The, the problem I got with the EDUTIGE sorry I'm holding the camera too close

Now the problem I've got with the EDUTIGE - I love it because it's small and it's just so easy to just plug and go
But the slight problem I've got with it is that it's omnidirectional
which means I think it sort of picks up everything even my footsteps

Maybe I should do some walking with it

I'll do some walking later but this is what it sounds like outdoors
This is how it sounds - just pluged straight into the DJI Osmo pocket

I haven't got any custom audio settings it's all on auto and this is what the etm001 sounds like
I think I've got someone behind me - being audiobombed

So we're back indoors with the edutige etm-001 and I haven't got the L-shaped adapter on so the microphone is just pointing straight down towards my desk at the moment but this is how it sounds indoors in a small room environment
I'm about arm's length away from the camera what you've probably noticed already I've not treated any of the audio in this video this is exactly as it comes out of the camera

I've not increased or decreased the level in the Edit
What I love about the edutige etm-001 is that it sounds louder
it sounds beefier

But because it's omnidirectional - it picks up everything around it
So there's an upside and a downside to it
I love its size - I love it's just just a little stub it's fantastic!
Now the next microphone that you're hearing the next external microphone that I'm trying out for my DJI Osmo pocket - speaking quietly as well because it's a quiet day

I hope this next one is the Saramonic SR-XM1
let's get a close-up here now you can't really see it very well because I've got it I've got it underneath a deadkitten or a deadcat windshield
That's to stop the the wind noise but this is what it looked like when it came out of the box, and what I love about this is that it's it looks like a mini shotgun mic, but it's still small so it's still easy to carry around with you and use unobtrusively

And then I put this massive windshield on!
But the big thing second big thing I love about this is that you can point it wherever you want it to go. (NOISES)

And you can bend it a full 180 degrees each way - I'm touching it now, you can probably hear that

So I'll just be quiet for a moment there's a bit of wind going on... but this is a really small-- I think of all the setups this is probably my favorite because you can just hold it really easily - you can hold the Osmo Pocket - so that's the Saramonic SR-XM1 into an Osmo pocket outdoors... let's see what it's like indoors
And you've probably noticed already that I find the audio from this although it's directional so you can point it more towards your your face - trying to say the word face and voice at the same time there - that wasn't gonna work!

I find the audio level is much lower than my other microphones and that can be a little bit irritating having to bump it up in the edit all the time but I love its portability

I love that you can point it in the direction you want it to you can swing it round if you're behind the camera or in front of the camera
I'm not a big fan of those big Rode shotgun microphones

I find them a bit... like they draw attention to themselves when I'm filming out on the streets which I prefer not to do - but this is the Saramonic SR-XM1
And finally this I think is my favorite of the microphone options

This is the Boya BY-M1
This is what it looks like coming out of the box

Actually bought this for my GoPro Hero 5 - absolutely love using it
I think it's probably the warmest sounding.. just because it-- you're just putting the microphone closer to where you're speaking
I think that sounds the best

Obviously it's not very mobile but the upside is how it sounds I think it sounds great
So we're back indoors again with the Boya BY-M1
I've got the cable running straight into my DJI Osmo pocket

I've just checked I've switched it on and because it has a battery I had-- I kept forgetting to turn it off so I've got this little memory device to switch off the battery so it doesn't run down between recordings!

This is how it sounds indoors and what do you think so far?

Leave a comment if you have any questions I'm sure someone be able to help you also in the description I've put links to all of these microphones but this is how the
Boya BY-M1 clip-on lavalier microphone sounds in a small room indoors
And now we're back outside again just to give you a quick whip through the three microphones one last time

This is how the DJI Osmo pocket sounds with no microphone in at all
and this is how the Edutige etm-001 sounds with an l-shaped adapter so that it's pointing towards me and a Comica deadcat wind muff which i've put in the description if you want to take a look at those

This is how the Saramonic SR-XM1 sounds there's a really quite a big breeze whipped up
What does a breeze do? It just happens doesn't it?
But there's quite a wind here and it's not coming from me
And finally this is the Boya BY-M1 clip-on lavalier lapel mic with a Comica windshield dead muff... Deadmuff?! Deadcat - mini deadcat - wind muff like the other three microphones have

How do these sound for you?
So there you go - those are your options for some external microphones that you can plug straight into your DJI Osmo pocket - if you have the slightly pricey DJI Osmo pocket mic adapter

I think it's really worth it because the built-in microphone is fantastic and I've recorded so much out on the hoof on the streets - the sound has been phenomenal - but it does sound a bit rubbish if it's if you're in a windy situation...

Although we're not supposed to take this out into weatherproof situations - but I DID in this video...
You can see there's a bit of rain on there - you might be screaming at the screen right now to tell me to get it in and get it dry
And you can click on the "i" at the top of the screen to to see my full DJI Osmo pocket in a storm test

I just wanted to say that all of these microphones have strengths and weaknesses and it does help to have an external microphone because I keep putting my thumb over the built-in mics

It is distracting if there is even the smallest bit of wind but of all of these options I think my favorite is the one I'm wearing now - is the Boya - I've got this on hand ready it's the Boya BY-M1

When I'm outdoors the cord is a bit of a faff. I just like having the microphone closer to my voice. I think the the sound is warmer and I think I just feel more present in the videos.

Anyway what do you think?
do you have a favorite?
Do-- do any of these work for you

do you just want to say hi - leave a comment below be lovely to hear from you and to hear what you think which ones you prefer
Maybe you already have a DJI Osmo pocket and you already have your favorite go-to microphone

leave a comment I'd love to hear some more of your stories and your tips and tricks with external microphones for the Osmo pocket
my goodness I hope letting the clips run long has helped you in some way if you have reached this point of the video why don't let me know someone reached this point of the video by clicking the thumbs up

It'd be... that'd really make my day and surprise me a little frankly
If you're feeling even kinder why not hit the subscribe button you never have to watch any of my videos again but every subscription helps me to keep going with this thank you

Good luck with your audio adventures on your DJI Osmo pocket thanks for watching
Can you please help my daddy get 1000 subscribers - just click on his face, thanks bye! How's that?

TRANSCRIPT: (CLICK PLAY ON THE VIDEO ABOVE)

Bye-bye t-shirt... so sad
"Then you fold either side to the middle and you have yourself cloth face covering - it's that easy!"
Hello I'm Neil Mossey - welcome back to the happy hut!

Usually I'm a tightwad dad just trying to be happy with what we've already got - like these words on the screen say.
But right now we're in the great shutdown of 2020 and every day I'm trying to find something new, and today it's this!

THIS IS A TRANSCRIPT - CLICK ON THE VIDEO ABOVE!

So this is foot-- as you can see footage of me, in Lidl wearing a face mask.
It's my first time - my first trip to a supermarket with a face mask.
Obviously there was no one who could hold the camera for me so I just propped it up on a shelf - walked past.
You'd think I'd be more uncomfortable with that, than the wearing the face mask - but look at me.

I'm getting milk and I'm breathing on a much smaller radius, but my face mask is homemade and this is how you make a DIY face mask.
That's... that's the video and if you're looking this up on YouTube, firstly hello!
Welcome.
Say hi in the comments - it'd be lovely to hear from you, but if you are looking up "how to make a DIY face mask" on YouTube, you've probably been through exactly the same thought process as me.

If you just want to jump straight to making the face mask, I'll put the the time on the screen now.
This really pushes a button for some people.
If face masks aren't your thing I think it might be best if you hit stop now and I'll see you on the next video.

But for the rest of us, hello, I completely understand why this this really pushes a button for some people... and they leave the comments, you know...
"You're not a doctor"
"Ughhh"
"It's not effective... ughhhh... N95..."

I get it! But this video - this video is of a doctor in New York.

He just happens to be an intensive care respiratory expert as well, but he made this video call to his family where he's explaining that the reason that he wears a face mask is to stop him touching his face.

And I touch my face all the time!
Most of the day I spend with my head in my hands.
Look here's a photo that a friend took of me at work, and this is this is what I look like all the time - with my head in my hands.
So I know from wearing my son's smelly scarf that this is 100 percent effective in stopping me touching my face.
I don't need a face mask I need a head mask.

I need one of those cones that dogs wear - you know when they've been to the vets?
So I wanted to do this obviously as lazily as possible, and I found this video.
It's of the United States Surgeon-General, showing you how to make it.

All you need is a t-shirt and two rubber bands.

And here are all my t-shirts!

Yeah I know what you're thinking, but you know we did Marie Kondo.
We did it a few years ago so that's why it's so neat... but we did a few years ago which is why there is so many!

And this is a very sad day.
Two of these guys are going to get the chop.
Quite literally.
But which two?!

I have three t-shirts that are in constant rotation.
They're not in here right now because they're - I'm either wearing it, or it's on the floor, or they've just come out the wash.
This one survives. Doesn't even go into the drawer.
So does this one, and so does this one.

Usually I don't like writing on my t-shirts.
I don't like people reading my chest.
Messy Darth Vader - keep!
Happy computer emoticon thing - keep!
Tour de France thing? I've got mark on it? I'll keep!

This is my oldest t-shirt.
This is an antique "I need TP for my bunghole!"
I can't cut this up!
But the thought of having Beavis on my face is very appealing.
That might go into the maybe pile, even though it's my oldest t-shirt.

Los Pollos Hermanos... from Breaking Bad.
I haven't worn this for about six months, but I don't think I can cut it up - keep!
Martial arts t-shirt - keep!

More writing... usually I prefer pictures - keep that one. That's definitely got a mark on it.
Now this is a strange one. This is from... it's from my infant school, when they had a big reunion could-- because they're demolishing the school.
I'll put a link to the video up top and in the description, it's Hawley Infants
I think this might be going to the maybe pile - I haven't worn it for a year.

I've worn it on a couple of videos.
T-shirt with a collar, fancy. That's for my formal wear.
See the t-shirt is the uniform for my midlife crisis
or midriff crisis
Keep.

I can't tell you what it is I'm using to choose which t-shirts to cut up.
I think it's the the konmari method - the Marie Kondo method of holding it.
Feeling if it sparks joy. This sparks joy. Keep.
I love this one because my long-suffering wife hates it - because it's got so many holes!
It's more holes... than t-shirt. Rodent food.
I love it - keep!

Now I like this one because it makes me look like Stefon from Saturday Night Live.
Okay I won't do the impression... "Well..."
I'm good, I've just been up for three days.
Hey maybe I should have a shot of me wearing it...

[STEFON'S VOICE] "I'm good I've just been up for three days."
Another martial arts t-shirt - keep!
Another martial arts t-shirt - keep!
Another martial arts t-shirt - keep!

I'm not sure about this. I got this from, from Disneyland, so I like the memories from it.
I'm not the slimmest guy in the world, but I like my t-shirts tight.
This is a little generous. It's just, it's just really wide. This is definitely going into the maybe pile.
I've not worn it for two years - it used to have a really good design. A row of cartoon gnomes - sort of vintage look - and a line underneath: "Rolling with my Gnomies".
It has gone, so all that there is left is t-shirt.

It feels like cheating, but I think this is definite, definite maybe.
Cameralabs! Check out the cameralabs channel at the top. Gordon Laing, see i bought your merch! I couldn't cut this up, although it'd be extra advertising for your channel.
[SINGS] "All I want is a perfect camera..." oh no, it's the wrong channel.

We've got three of these - I used to go jogging in them. It's the Late Show, The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn. For me the best Late Late Show, sorry to all the other hosts.
And it had the best merch, so I bought a second one, and then I bought a third one.
Definite keep.

I might start jogging again one day.
Which leaves this - it does not spark joy anymore, it just leaves me cold. Quite literally.
I suppose I could make a mask with the graphic.
I can't wear it with the words because it'd just say "OLD."
"OLD WHAT?!"

I do like the faded blue - definite maybe.
You know the real problem about putting videos on YouTube is that sometimes you feel like you, you, you might be sharing too much, that I think I just shared.
So this is the final shortlist.
The deadly five.

Look I've got paint on it!
So that's, oh that's keep!
It's that way.

I've had-- I don't think I could wear that on my face.
That'll be keep, but not for any good reason.
I don't want a white mask, cause I know what state it's gonna look like.
There's no way I'm gonna keep this white, so it's in the keep.
So that leaves "Rolling with my Gnomies" and this.
I did it!

So these are the ones, let's hack them up!

Hey I don't know if you're in lockdown as well by the way, but I've not put my wallet in my pocket for about two months. It's brilliant!

So these are the two t-shirts that are going to get it.

The first method we're gonna try is from the US Surgeon General, Dr. Jerome Adams.
Here's how you can make your own face covering in a few easy steps, with items you can find around the house.
Oh my goodness - the state of me! Up against that.
Or you can make a face covering out of an old t-shirt.
Fold it to the middle from the bottom.
Fold it to the middle from the top.
Fold it again to the middle from the bottom.

Look at his folding.
Look at mine.

Now the great thing with this method is that it doesn't need any sewing.
All you need is 2 elastic bands, which I've got.
The great thing about being British is that obviously we have elastic bands on the pavements scattered around the country, but I've not picked these up from the pavement.
I've picked them up from my kitchen drawer.
It's brilliant - there's no sewing, but the problem I had is that if you do it just with the whole t-shirt it sort of looks like this, which is okay? It sort of works, but I wanted to go for something a bit smaller.

I feel bad enough for being in Lidl at all, let alone being in Lidl looking like this!
So what I'm going to do is cut it up, which they don't tell you to do on the video.
Bye bye t-shirt, thank you for your service.
So sad.
On the upside, I've now got a little crop top!

So I'm gonna follow the instructions, this way - so put it sideways.

Here's how you can make your own face covering in a few easy steps, with items you can find around the house - like an old scarf, a bandana, or a hand towel.
Or you can make a face covering out of an old t-shirt!

Fold it to the middle from the bottom.
Fold it to the middle from the top.
Fold it again to the middle from the bottom, and again from the top.
And then two rubber bands.
One on one side and one on the other side.
Then you fold either side to the middle and you have yourself cloth face covering.
It's that easy.

I like that! It still feels a bit pudding-gy. It just feels a bit large.
I don't know how to lose the bulk - the story of my life.
Think I need to find a way, so it's not quite as bulky.

Maybe I should cut the t-shirt in half again? Let's try that.
Then cut THAT half, in half again.

That's the one!
I can't tell if it's dangling down.
The only downside with it, is now that I've worn it for 30 seconds, my ears aren't coping very well with the elastic bands.
Maybe if I, if I double up the elastic bands, oh look at that.
That's, that's gonna annoy me.
Okay so went and got the two extra elastic bands, and I might make it a bit wider as well.
So it's not so far to go, for my ears.
That feels just right!

So those are the dimensions - it sort of looks like this: about 25cm by 25cm.
That for me is the perfect length, and if it's too small for you, then you've got plenty of t-shirt left to try again!
You know it's much better with the two rubber bands as well.
So all that's left to do now is to try it out in an actual supermarket!

Here I am, this is me in Lidl.
So this is like literally the only place on earth where I can get this thing right now.
It works out really well but I just I'm not used to wearing the face mask out in public.
It feels like you are making yourself "the other".
Especially if you're around people who aren't wearing face masks.
If you're not that's absolutely fine!
I just don't want to smell you, that's all!
And also I don't want to touch my face!

But you think if I was that worried about not getting it, that maybe I'd put off buying papadums and pitta bread, and some potting compost!
The other-- right so the other thing as well, it feels really rude wearing the mask, and I just want to like pull it down say "hello!"
Anyway I hope this this video has helped if you want to make a DIY face mask without doing any sewing whatsoever.
And if you want to express your awesomeness by hitting the thumbs up button I'd really appreciate that, or say hello in the comments below.
And if you made a face mask - have you copied this yourself?

If you have let me know how you get on.
Let me know how you get on with the face mask situation because I'm still not feeling entirely comfortable with it, and good luck on your face covered shopping.
Can you please help my daddy get 10,000 subscribers just click on his face, thanks bye!
Alright, this is gonna be the proper one, right?

MY BEST EVER HEAD SHAVER Remington Stylist Hair Clipper for a Grade 1 #TightwadDad unboxing

This is without doubt, hands down, my favourite head shaver: the Remington Stylist Hair Trimmer. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
You can buy one here from Amazon US https://amzn.to/2RgYqdK
Amazon UK: https://amzn.to/2tjWsBq

I've been looking for this for a long time -- it was my first head shaver back in 2003 and really pleased to be reunited with the new version of it. It looks the same sturdy build but has a more robust UK power charger.
The unboxing starts around 4:00, and I also show some of my other failed Grade 1 head shaver purchases.

MY BEST EVER HEAD SHAVER Remington Stylist Hair Clipper for a Grade 1 #TightwadDad unboxing

AMAZON US: AMAZON UK:

TRANSCRIPT:
But here's the unit - THIS is what you've been waiting for
I'll probably put this clip right at the start of the video to reassure you that you will actually get to see this - it's the Remington stylist hair clipper
aha ah this is it!
This is this is the one that I lost - the one that got broken after ten years of use

Hello, I'm Neil, welcome back to the happy hut today I'm unboxing this
I dunno if you can see it - it's the Remington stylist hair clipper
Bit of a minimalist model title there which I like
Now there is no way I should be making this video at all, because I have bought over the years probably a double-digit number of hair clippers or trimmers or hair, head shavers...
whatever you want to call them

I do not need another one in my life
I'm not exactly a perfectionist
I just want the perfect head shaver!
I just want the perfect hair trimmers - just something that will give me a really good Grade 1 - you see I'm stroking something that's not even there!

I just want something that is cordless.
I want something that will give me the exact grade one that I want

Sometimes like this one - I thought this was gonna be the perfect head shaver
it's a Wahl... or is it a Wahl Colour Pro trimmer
I made a whole video about this thinking that this was gonna be the one
It's a really beautiful unit - as you can see - there's a link if you click on the "i" at the top or in the description below

It... I mean it looks great but look at this comb!
This comb is so thick - and this is the smallest comb - and I know what you're saying
I know what you're saying "why don't you just go Grade Zero, you've got no hair there!"
Why do you even want a little hint of it?

I don't know why, I'm clinging to my 3mm of hair that's there - I just don't think it's that big and ask

The reason I went for this the Remington is because when I first shaved my head - shaved my hair off completely - I did it with a Remington
And that... I don't know what the model number was but I used it for about ten years and it was fantastic!

The comb was just right - you only need one comb in here - you don't need the--
yeah this comes with 8 combs they all do!
I thought I'd come close with this Remington because it had an adjustable comb
But that plastic thing is so thick that the blades just don't get anywhere close to where I needed it to get to

So I'm hoping this is the one
If this is the one I've already given this in the description of this video - I'll call it the best head shaver for Grade 1 - and so if you can see that in the description you already know that I love this and I will change that description the moment that this fails me
But let's, let's open the box and see what you get inside

Here is a collection of some of the things I've bought
That was the Babylis for men
I even shot an unboxing for that - and as you can see I was really giddy with excitement because it has two combs - two shavers either side
These combs just didn't get anywhere near to a Grade 1 that I wanted
I looked like a hairy hippie

So here is the Remington stylist hair clipper - I've been saving it - look, look how you probably can't see but I am really shaggy at the moment because I've been waiting to unbox this on camera to help some other Baldy out there who wants a grade 1 and who hasn't found the right hair clipper - so this could be the one

Sure I'll give you a quick look at the box - there's a charging indicator - it can go cordless
That's one of the things that I've been looking for
I don't need to go in the shower with it
it says advanced ceramic I've no idea what that means
there's a free detailer inside - I don't - I don't need that - I just need - I wanna be like you!
But with a grade one haircut

I want that - that's the grade - the one that's on his Jimmy Hill chin!
that's what I want on my head
easy to store

I need my glasses on - not only is my hair failing me, but my eyes are too
I'm a wreck! why are you even watching this video!
What kind of advice can I give to you?!
but if you could live vicariously through my purchases, good on you!

So it says it's easy to store
well yeah anything is easy to store when you just throw it under the bed... between charges
up to 40 minutes usage time
well that's good because I never let it grow that long but 40 minutes would be helpful
it says it comes with eight combs for different hair lengths
grade one to eight - that's the one I want the 3mm - that's all I want from you Remington
and self oiling blades

Oh my goodness that is a relief because I've accumulated so many bottles of oil for all my other failed purchases
maintenance-free performance for life - for life
you can't take these back!

If this isn't good for you - if this isn't right for you - and I think this might be why you're watching this video you can't pass these on!
nobody wants a used hair clipper!
it's bad for the environment

my hair has its own carbon footprint and I want it to end on this shaver
I do want it to end on this shaver
this could be the one
Let's open it like a man
Oh there's a tab here

there's a nice box that will go under the bed, never to be used again
To store all the bits that I'll never use again.
Now if like me you don't really want to destroy the environment this would probably make your heart sink
Oh my goodness, look at all the wrapping

Oh Greta Thunberg... and, worse... I have to turn the heating up to heat this up
this is, this can't be good - this can't be how we used to live pre-industrialization
here are all the combs

Oh man, these combs look good - these combs look good
I know I get excited about every single trimmer that I apply but this is the one
3mm - that's my grade 1, and this is exactly like the comb that I loved and lost
oh this could be it - this could be it - and it comes with a natty bag - oh no this is this is a cape

You could be a bald superhero
But here's the unit - this is what you've been waiting for
I'll probably put this clip right at the start of the video to reassure you that you will actually get to see this
it's the Remington stylist hair clipper
hahaha shall we rip into it?
Ooop, that's probably an important thing

hygiene seal - only remove if you intend to keep the product
"Remington I'm in!"

ah this is it - this is - ahhh, this is the one that I lost... that got broken after ten years of use
Model HC 366

what I'm gonna do, I'll put a link in the description probably near the top because I need the money - but every one of these that is sold - Amazon would give me some - a little bit of money - at no extra cost to you If you use the link below

Shall I switch it on?
there we go - my goodness this is the one
so I'll show you what else you get
now this always makes me giggle because obviously we - we need to to make those who are not of a grade 1 length feel good about themselves

we've got some hair clips some scissors - I wish I could use that - maybe for some hair elsewhere my nose or ears? that would be good
and a comb.
Do you remember using those? they were good weren't they
[GLASS SMASH]

And it comes obviously with a charger
Ready, so you just plug it in and it's lighting up to show you its charged

Now I haven't read the instructions - you're probably supposed to charge it before you use it - I'm not going to make you wait - I'm going to do this right now
So get my favorite comb - ah, where is it
See, so you get some weird taper combs for your ear holes
There that's the one

I like on... is it makeup tips they, they put the hand behind it to show you
that's the Grade 1 - the precious Grade one
none of these I'll ever use again - apart from terrorizing the boy to shave his head once every six months

There we go - just clips on like that
there's a taper lever which makes it go longer or shorter
and then you turn it on just by pushing the switch on the side here
Oh dare I - dare I do this?

Here, give you a shave - go on.
Put your head close to the screen, go on, I'll give you... look...
that's what it's like being your hair every day
completely unappreciated
but I'm gonna do it now - you ready?

Ah this is the one I think this is the one!
Take glasses off - oh boy this is the stuff - this is the one, this is the one that I'd lost
so happy - look how much just came off - don't know if you can see that
Can I tap? maybe tap?
there you go
it's a messy business isn't it, having no hair

I've got some really big stuff at the back
now what I love about this - and why I bought it - let's turn it off - why I bought it
there's a perfect combination here

the comb doesn't scratch your head - it allows the blades to get super close but still allow 3mm - the crucial 3mm that us Grade 1-er's love
this is the perfect combination
right that - the comb's too thick

that says that's a Grade 1 - it isn't - it isn't - you just end up looking like a, a hairball
this? I mean frankly it-- and I know having this look gives the impression of me being perhaps more rugged or tough or even thuggish
but that's no good - that comb - it - I mean it just hurts - it's just like rubbing your head up against a plastic grater - rubbish
this this is the one

the remington model HC366 - it's the remington stylist hair clipper - once you've charged it up you can unplug and go rogue with it
did you see there's a big difference - I don't think the battery liked that - listen to the difference
yeah that's the speed it should be at

What are your best shaver experiences?

What brands do you like?

help me - advise the community
are there brands that have helped you to stay a good grade 1

leave a comment below
I'd love to hear your experiences with these hair clippers
my son's going to get me now
I'm gonna-- shall I give him a shave?
I'll show ya
come in look what I got!
I'm gonna shave you!
NO!

So look I hope this video and I hope these links below help
I just want to help the community of grade 1 hair clipper owners
I don't anyone to be buying - look at this mess - I don't want anyone to be buying this junk
because they're not cheap either - well they are cheap but that's the problem
once you accumulate a number of them that doesn't work - it really starts to add up
So I hope this video has helped
if you've reached this point in the video why not let me know that somebody reached this far, with a thumbs up they'll be really appreciated
Oh subscribe - you never have to watch any of my videos ever again but I'm trying to hit 1000 subscribers
if you can hit the subscribe button - you don't have to - just mute me you don't have to watch any any more of this nonsense
but it will really help me get some money off youtube for every 1000people that watch my videos

HOW TO BUY ONLINE POSTAGE: Be your own Post Office. Print your own stamps.

Transcript: (click play on video above)
Let's see how this goes...
Hello I'm Neil, and usually I'm the Tightwad Dad, trying to be happy with what we've already got -- those words on the screen.

The Great Shutdown of 2020... and oh by the way look at our lovely town statue.
Everyone's getting into the mood

So here's how you can buy postage online at home for yourself.
Hello I'm Neil welcome to the Happy Hut - thanks for clicking on this video

I'm like you I hate going to the post office even when there isn't an international emergency going on
We're in the middle of The Great Shutdown of 2020
I could not think of a better excuse to not go and use one of those self-service machines at the post office - and I thought there has to be a better way of living

And also at the moment this has given me a chance to try things that I've never done before
So today's thing that I've never done before is "buy postage online"
I've got the internet ready and come see my screen...
There's no internet.

Okay so I've finally got the internet back on - thanks kids - and it's, it's the evening now so I thought I'd come in here and this is the website that you need

Now I'll put the link to this website in the description you might be watching this in 2021 or 2022 even
I'll change the link in the description if it changes, but that's the link that I'm using and they've got this walkthrough system with you - so the first thing you need to know is where you're sending your parcel

That's the United Kingdom I know that, that's good
Now the next thing you need to know is the weight, so this is a shot of me right now weighing the package on our kitchen scales

They want it in either grams or kilograms as you can see there
We're lucky enough to have the scales and it's it's 480 so I can type that into the website
480

And it's grams so I'm going to click on the grams, not the kilograms - that will change the price quite a lot
And then we'll click on "Send an item now"
Now we put in a few more details about the item - we have to put in the size of a package

Let me get the package here - by the way I think this is probably my favorite part of buying postage online: you don't have to answer that stupid question that you do in the post office
You know when they ask you "what's in your package?"
What I want to say is "It's a small packet of none of your business" but that's not very-- that's not very nice

So I usually end up going "Oh, it's my embarrassing package"
But this is actually embarrassing - I've cleared out the loft and gonna send some stuff back to my sister
It's a Top Of The Pops magazine from 2001 and some photos of her
By the way the photos... just cover this up
What were my parents thinking?!
What-- that was that was a fancy dress costume on holiday
Not only do I appear like that on holiday but we've captured it on film?
What's, what's in the package there sir?

Oh it's just a photo of me... with a... as Adam - with fig leaves - that we've just found on the holiday complex?
Oh you should see what the complex looks like now
Absolute wreck.
Like me!

This is the package of embarrassment that I want to send and buy the postage for
So it wants the shape of your item.

If you put in a very low number of grams you can actually just buy a stamp for a letter
Yeah if I put in here, say it's, I don't know, 20 grams, you can see you've got you've got the option of a letter
So you can just buy a stamp for a letter using this system - so it works for big parcels and small letters
And you can see it's offering me a Large Letter - it's definitely not a large letter.

Basically click on the box that is the size of your package and mine looks like the small parcel - from £2.95.
Click continue.

It takes you to another section now which is what service would you like it?
How would you like it delivered?
And the options here are second-class. first-class, signed for second-class, you can see the prices going up here
Signed For First Class... to arrive in one to two business days
Tracked 24 - the next day delivery signed for...

I'm a tightwad dad and I'm not made of money so I'm gonna go for second class - plus I don't think anyone's in any rush to be seeing this stuff
I think the longer it's in the hands of the Royal Mail the better

We click on 'continue' which takes you to the next section - which is where is your package going?
Now you can type in a postcode and look for the address with this pull down menu - now I don't want this package falling into the wrong hands, so let's send it to... let's look up a postcode SW1A 2AA
Oh how about that? How... will it send it to number 10 Downing Street as my example address
This is gonna cause a visit from, er... some kind of authority...
So this is just the demonstration.

But as you can see if you type it in the postcode it offers you addresses for that postcode
So you choose the right address and it fills in the boxes for you, or you can fill those in manually yourself - and then we'll click continue

Here you just type in your address and then you can also enter your address manually... and then there's an option on this page: "Check this box if you do not want your sender details to appear on the label."

There's an option where you can have like a return to sender address put on the label but given it's got all of your details anyway I don't know why you wouldn't want to do that... but anyway that option is there for you
So this is the next page where you can now complete your purchase and actually pay for the postage.

I've blanked out the address it's going to and the address is going from, but you can see that it's telling me - confirming me - it's a small parcel, Royal Mail second class postage - and you can see there's an option here to edit any of those details or delete it if you've got it wrong and start again... and then you can complete your purchase.

So it says once you've completed your purchase your items will be need to be posted within 7 days
So you put in your email address - don't write those words obviously - write your email - your actual email address - and then finally you just need to take a couple of boxes

First I confirm I have entered the correct weight for the items being sent and I'm not sending any item which is prohibited or restricted in the UK
I don't know. Some of those photos?
But I'll tick it anyway
I'm sure you would have read the terms and conditions right?

Now it gives you two options at the moment: it's pay with PayPal or pay with debit or credit card
Let's go with pay with debit or credit card - but also here you can see there's a nice handy infographic to show you how to buy postage online
Once we've paid for it, we're going to print a label and stick that label onto the package - so we click with "pay with debit or credit card" and this is really straightforward
All you do is type in your card number, the card holders name and the expiry date, and the security code
So I've clicked on "Make payment"
It's now saying my payment is being processed - always a worrying time - so there we go!
It says "Thank you for your purchase. Your purchase postage."
And it's confirmed the addresses and the payments

Now you can get your postage to print out from two places here - you can either click on "view your documents" and there is the postage label ready to print out
Or next to the details it says "view label" so if I click on "view label" there it is
And if you view your label you will have an option there you can download it onto your computer, or you can just hit print, straight from there

I like to save it on my computer because I'm of an age where I want to hold on to stuff!
So let's send it to the printer straight away and here it comes out to the printer
And here's the label fresh off the printer

It's huge! Look at it! It's massive! So the next thing you'll need is a bit of crafting
I can never find glue
I always get it, and then the kids nick it
So you stick it to the package - there!

HOW TO MAKE A BUS BLIND DESTINATION DISPLAY | TightwadDad Vlog

How to build a frame for a bus destination blind... for as little money as possible! (Click the picture)
Sadly, it's not one of those winder displays where you can change the route or destination (there's a great link below) but it is illuminated and looks great in our house.
Mine's for my Route 46 London bus destination blind.

All you need is a picture frame (mine was from IKEA called Olunda, but it seems unavailable),

- some plexiglass or perspex clear plastic sheet, something like this. (Amazon US) https://amzn.to/2yzTcEo
(Amazon UK) https://amzn.to/3bBrea0
- Black gloss spray (Amazon US https://amzn.to/2XZEpNM )
(Amazon UK) https://amzn.to/2XXH9LN
- LED strip light. I used a 1m strip, but 2-5m would be better (Amazon US) https://amzn.to/2yDOh53

HOW TO MAKE A BUS BLIND DESTINATION DISPLAY | TightwadDad Vlog

TRANSCRIPT: (click play on video above)
Hello - I don’t know which way to hold this - maybe that way around?
Hello I’m Neil, welcome back to the Happy Hut.
Usually this is the Tightwad Dad vlog where we are happy - we're trying to be happy with what we've already got - but at the moment we're in the the great shutdown of 2020 and so I'm trying to do something everyday that I've not done before

And today... I'm going to explain how I made this!
A display for a bus blind - a bus destination board - and I actually built this four years ago
I don't know why I've not shared the footage

Now I know if you found this by searching how to build a display for a bus blind, I KNOW the one that you want - it's the display that I want - which has a handle that would crank up the blind and change the destination
I just couldn't afford that and I'll tell you why in a moment how I got these bits together
But I'll put a link in the description if I ever find a video about how to build one of those
That'd be awesome - but this is something slightly different

I went onto eBay and I found a destination that I wanted, it's something--
it's a place that's very dear to my heart: Camden Road in London
It cost me about fifteen quid but what people are doing is they're taking the big strips and they're cutting them into single destinations, so this was about fifteen quid and I loved it and I really wanted to work out a way of mounting it and putting it up on the wall in a way that wasn't gonna break the bank
I spent ages trying to find the right frame.

I finally found it in of all places IKEA
I'll show you the footage now: it's it's actually a frame that comes already with a print in it - Picasso - it's the Picasso print... but it's the exact dimensions that would be right for displaying my bus destination blind
So I had a frame, but what I really wanted to do is to put a light behind this - so I got an LED light strip and I needed to work out a way of putting this blind at the front of the frame... so then I thought well if I've got some perspex - and I got this perspex from Wickes or B&Q... and I cut the perspex to the size of the frame

Then I could put the blind onto the perspex and have the lights behind it - illuminating this from behind
But that meant there was a gap at the top and the bottom... so then I got this black spray from Poundland - it's a-- I think it's a gloss car spray

It might not even be the right paint for for perspex.
Leave a comment below if you've got any other tips, but it worked for me
All I needed to do is to mask off the bit in the middle that is the right width or rather the white... or rather the right height for this blind.
So then I put the masking tape on.

I sprayed it.
Removed the masking tape and put it all together and that's what this video is about
It's pretty much in real time so you can follow along with me I hope--
I hope this helps someone somewhere to find a way to display their beautiful bus blind
So this is what I've used for the background - it's an Ikea Picasso picture
Is that a copyright?
Probably

Mass-produced by IKEA but inside I sort of drilled a hole, and from Lidl I've got these LED strip lights
That'll be the back of the frame - so the idea is if I have that in front... it'll be lit up
Now I need to get a bit of plexiglass, spray paint it black with masking tape, rip it off and then hopefully the light will shine through behind the sign

This is what I've used: it's black glass car paint from Poundland and I measured the middle of this plastic that I got from B&Q, and then I'm masking taped it out for the middle section and then sprayed it
That's me reconstructing how I spray-painted it - sound effects and everything - so hopefully this is the big moment of truth

This is this will hopefully reveal a clear section in the middle
I'm going to do it on camera so it could be really embarrassing if it's gone wrong
Let's give it a go. Try and take it off.
There might be a way to get that off - the back of the masking tape's left a mark on the, on the glass where some of the glue's been left behind from the masking tape
But I think it will come off with surgical spirit

The trick is to do it slowly - agh! except for there.
Let me go close so you can see how the edge is going to come up
Right, the trick is to do it super slow - look, can you see it has a straight edge coming off now
[MUSIC]

You can see that the masking tape has protected the Plexiglas on this side
it's giving a straight line so far
This is a very long video and it is a metre wide or 1 metre, 6 centimeters wide
But the lifting up slowly really helped because it doesn't leave so many bits of masking tape bits behind

Probably should have done that other bit a lot slower
I worried that the tape would lift up the paint but it seems to be okay
[MUSIC]

I'm also hoping that because the bus blind is going to be behind this, and it's black, that it won't look-- if there are any jaggedy edge problems that it won't look too bad because the blind will be up against it
When I put the masking tape down, I really rubbed it down hard with my fingernail
That seems to have paid off

I'm a bit frustrated by-- can you see those-- the bit of masking tape
It's just all over the place.
[MUSIC]

Ah, right the trouble with taking it too far away now is that there's a tear here
That's not so good.
So if I can bring it around and then come back from the other side
[MUSIC]

So that's good, let's try and go from the other end
I'll probably put the whole thing on one really big video, live along with the tearing with me!
Tell you what might be easier to move the middle one first, let's try that
Do it really super slowly, to make sure that pull is close to where it's coming off the plastic sheet - the acrylic

That seems to be a much cleaner way of getting it off
Now I'll do the next section, and also I left the - on the acrylic sheet - I left the protective-- there's like a protective sheet on both sides

I took it off this side obviously to lay down the masking tape but I left it on the other side just in case there any- there was any spray paint or you know spillages - just hopefully protected on the other side
Alright here goes for the clean edge!
Split... I've got to do... kind of join it up and then move it really slowly
The spray paint was-- was dry in about half an hour

If you do it in quick layers but I had to do lots of layers, so I've got through a couple of cans
You don't get that much paint in-- in the can, and even now there are sort of spits and spots which I'll try to show you later

I might-- I might just cover those with marker pen
I think using the spray paint has helped because it flexes with the glass
If I did it with gloss paint, I think I'd be worried that it would crack and fall off or come off with the tape
And I laid down the two strips first, to get my edges - and I ran a pencil line with a metal ruler, full length, just to make sure that it was that straight

And then I filled the middle with two extra bits of masking tape
Still not sure that's the best way to mount the bus blind, but see how it looks in a minute.
And this should be completely clean so I'm trying not to touch it too much but getting my greasy mitts all over it. See a bit has come off there - agh, put more on.

Try and find a way to lift that off in a sec
Gonna time jump this, so I'll do that off-camera but I'll just finish this section off here
Here comes the final section!

I'm gonna separate it from that so I can do it two bits
Take this one off first, and then I've gotta lift up one way or the other there's - these sections
Let's do this one first, yeah, and then this one. There we go, perfect line.
See if I can get this off.
I'm gonna try and lift that off
[MUSIC]

And here is the the final final bit
[MUSIC]

And there we go. There you go so that's complete.
Blackout blind for the bus blind, that sort of works something like this
That's doesn't look too bad, does it

If it will fit inside - oh it's really good - there you go - okay
Protective film coming off.
[MUSIC]

So that's how my display for my bus blind, or my bus destination board, finished up
Looks beautiful doesn't it?
This is what it looks like today - you'll notice a slight change in destination?

I absolutely love Camden Road and I really liked the yellow colour, but I wanted something that would change colour, and also this destination meant a bit more to me
It's a bus that I went on to get to school in the morning when I was a kid
But the problem I had was that this destination was much thinner - it had a much lower height - so I had to put masking tape on and spray even more paint on to make the black borders work for this blind

And this is what it looks like after
It would be lovely to know if somebody reached the end of the video
If you've hit this point, why not click on the thumbs up just let me know that somebody watched all the way through - it'd be lovely to see that

If you've got any questions or any tips for making this even better or easier or more cost effective, why not leave a comment below it'd be fantastic to hear from you

BREATHING HEAVILY IN SAINSBURYS SUPERMARKET LOCKDOWN UK | TightwadDad Vlog

Transcript:
Those ones?
Or those ones.
I don't know which ones you want.
Which ones?
[MUSIC]
Maybe these ones?

Hello I'm Neil and usually I'm a tightwad dad - trying to be happy with what we've already got
there's a graphic and everything
but this is a weird video

As you probably gathered there are weird videos being produced at the moment
Why is the light still on?
Is the door open?
Oh it's because I've put the key in

The great shutdown of 2020...
this might seem nothing to you in the future but right now things are a bit weird they're a little crazy and the first step was to actually get to this supermarket
There's been all kinds of horribleness in the press about what what is and isn't essential in these times and we've-- we've got some shops in our town, but they're rubbish

So our favorite shop is this one but it's obviously further away than the other ones so it's the first step of paranoia in this is am I gonna get stopped for going to the wrong chain... sending drones out shaming some non-essential instagramming?
And we've had some sunbathing... sunbathing-shaming this week or for taking too long on their essential exercise...
so anyway this is the the mood of the country right now.

Can I still make a video?
Can I even get to the supermarket?
Will anything be there?
Will it be crowded?

I'm in the last half-hour of the opening hours on Good Friday - so that's Easter 2020 - and I'm hoping that because it's so close to closing time that things should be a little quiet
How many-- I can't even say it.
How many minutes of video footage am I able to take inside the store that I don't feel I should be even allowed to in the first place
let's see how it goes

This is it. This is my trip to Sainos supermarket during the great shutdown
I don't know how much I'm gonna be able to film
I don't wanna be told off or kicked out
That would be a disaster
[Music]
"Hi, thank you"

[TANNOY]: Please be prepared to push your trolley off the walkway.

Okay so right here is where I realise I have completely lost my list
Yeah my precious shopping list.
The thing that was going to get me in and out as quickly as possible
Look I'm checking all my pockets - it's not there - you can see on my hand I've got two extra items... in biro

This building is literally the only place on planet earth that I can catch this today and I've now got to walk all the way back.
So stop the clock

I had to walk all the way back down the travelator past security through the carpark and look there there it is
I dropped it when I got out of the car

There's the list so I'll get the list go all the way back to where I began and start the clock and the shopping all over again
I think this video it's about me overcoming my fear of filming in public

[TANNOY: Help stop the spread, and download the smartshop app today!]

Those ones
or those ones
I don't know which ones you want!
Which ones?
Maybe these ones?
These look a bit big. I don't know any more!

So I did it!
I didn't video very much but I did buy more
So that was to see how many minutes I could shoot in a mad supermarket.
Er... quite a lot I think - that was quite good, AND, because it's a Friday night, it was really quiet... so that was good.
That was a result.
So shopping 1... vlogging zero

It's late at night now and I've just got home you'll see what happened next in a moment but I paid for my stuff for the checkout and had this brilliant chat with the young woman who was serving on the checkout
It was the only checkout and it was taking me forever to get everything out my trolley - I managed to do really well with the shopping

So I said you know "how is it, you know it's nearly closing time, yeah?
So you're nearly finished now?"

Yeah that sounds wrong doesn't it - but anyway so I said you know how are things at the moment?
Is it is it bit strange - it seems very quiet now
"Yeah it's really quiet now"
I said have you had any, like, oddness?
And she said "yeah there's-- yeah... all the time."

But there's one that she remembered in particular and it's basically a woman who basically made her pack her bags.
They're doing everything they can to avoid contact

There's a lot of Plexiglas up - a lot of distancing... and you're encouraged to pay by card and not cash- so there's like all these checks, there's lines over the floor and signs everywhere... and then at the checkout this woman demands that her bags be... be packed!

And I was disgusted to hear that because while we are at the moment demonizing people who are sunbathing, we got people like asking checkout workers to pack their bags for them!

What's going on!

So anyway she said-- so I said, "Ahh that's really awful"
She said no, no the awful bit was that this woman then unpacked everything that she had packed and repacked it - in front of her!

People are rubbish.

If you're busy demonizing people who are sunbathing, and making checkout workers pack your bags for you... I think that maybe you've got some time now to reflect on your priorities

Thanks for watching - if... if you reached this point in the video I think this video's gonna be very short, so it's not really an achievement
But really appreciate it

Why not give me a thumbs up to let me know someone reached this part of the video and how you're feeling even kinder why not hit the subscribe button - that really helps me to keep going with this - this high quality content in lockdown Britain

I always feel good about having the wrong brand bags
What's all this like for you?
What's it like shopping at the moment?
What are you experiences?

Leave me a comment in the comments below that'd be really lovely to hear from you
Can you please help my daddy get 1,000 subscribers just click on his face - thanks, bye! How's that?
