How FAKE Lego track for my SECRET train layout helps in my Garden Office...

This is the big one! Buying FAKE Lego track to complete my secret hidden Lego City train layout around my Garden Office. Is it any good? Is it worth it? PLUS, the very first run of my Lego City Cargo train around the finished Lego City railroad track loop. I can finally build the Lego City railway from here!

"Hello, welcome back to the Happy Hut. This is my garden office, if you've not been to the channel before. And, uh, this is a Lego City train track video because I'm in the middle of building a top secret Lego City train Railroad Railway layout. Uh, it's not so secret, 'cause you can see it on the front door, but the rest of it will be kind of hidden under the benches, behind the armchair, under there. I'm thinking of having two tiers and having two decks of tracks, but that's slightly a step ahead of where I'm at. What I'm going to look at today is, is fake Lego City train track any good? You know, the bootleg, knockoff Lego train tracks. Lego City track is perhaps one of the most expensive substances on the planet, it seems. Uh, it feels like it's going to cost the same as, uh, building HS2 here in the UK for me. But very exciting development because I looked on Amazon and discovered this. Should I open it? A little sneak peek. So I've got some fake Lego City track, but is it any good? Is it going to wreck my trains? Is it even going to stay in place? I don't know, but I'm going to open it on camera with you so we can, uh, we can compare the two tracks. Obviously, I'd really like to build the whole layout in the original official Lego Track. The cost difference is, it's so massive. Let me just see if I can compare the two now. You know the deal, if we're buying on Amazon, the official Lego City Railroad Track, the train track, it, it costs $20. It's reduced to $16, but for $20 you get eight pieces of straight track. Here's four pieces, just to give you an idea of the, the length. I put some of the flexible track on here. Uh, you get eight of these flexible pieces and four curves. Now, I don't, I don't need any curves because I've got a huge bag of Curves over there up on the wall, ready to curve me around the garden office here. But I saw this, it on Etarnfly: 60 pieces for $30, or in the UK it's £25. You get 60 pieces and they're all straight apart from the flexible tracks. This is really crude, but for double the money you get three times the track. That's just in, in terms of numbers of pieces. But what was really helpful for me is that it's just straights, and I really need straight pieces of track. And here it is. So, should we unbox this and see if it can connect to the the official track? And we'll also see what kind of quality we're, we're dealing with here. So the brand of this is called Etarnfly... Etarnfly. It's actually listed in the UK in its listing, but, uh, on the US site the word Etarnfly is kind of buried in the description. If I hold it up to the camera, this is the flex piece and it, it looks, I mean, it doesn't look far off. It's kind of got like a Dusty quality to it, which is the the same with all um pretend clutch brick play toys, where they they try and describe it without using the word Lego. Just on first holding, the the quality actually seems quite good. It clicks together really nicely. I thought that would be difficult. So I really can't see that much of a difference. So I'll hold it up so you can compare side by side. Underneath it kind of, it looks similar, whereas, uh, Lego has a shiny quality to it. The bootleg Lego has a kind of a Dusty Sheen to it, like it's, I don't know, just not, not polished. The the Lego bricks seem to just of their by their own accord, they line up where they've gripped together. So the sleepers or the ties are in alignment on the not, not Lego. I don't call it bootleg, that sounds like I'm knocking it and it's not, but on the pretend Lego it's kind of a bit wonky, which is probably where either the piece is bent or, uh, the clutch isn't quite as, uh, clutchy as it could be. And also the clutch should have a a hole in it, and some of the holes aren't punched out. So let's get going on the straights, which is the whole reason that I had to buy these, because I've got a long distance that I want to travel around the heart. So Lego on the left, uh, not Lego on the right. There's a a sprew cut from from on that stud there, but in other respects that looks normal. Sorry I'm not a Lego expert, so you'll have to help me out with the terminology. I'm sure you will in the comments. Does the official Lego Track connect nicely to the not Lego Track? So I'll put the camera up here not Lego let see if they snap together"
"Yeah, I mean, they clip together so easily. I, I can't see the difference. Let me give you a really close pan. I might have to go macro on this, but now we're not Lego territory. Hold me. I know you just, you just know, though, don't you, when you got the official stuff. This is going to be good for the big layout that I'm doing, and I have no idea if this idea to get a ring of track going around the garden office is going to last for more than two videos. I've got, uh, the previous video where we did the inaugural run of the cargo train over there, scared poor Casper the dog, but I've got that linked down in the description. Just holding it, seeing it, and clipping it together for the first time though, it seems pretty on the money. It's, it I'm, I'm glad that I bought it. I don't regret it at all, and it's great to have so much track as well. I think I'm going to tackle this side of the room first, mainly because over there I've got all my spaghetti from my PC, um, workstation, my battlestation. I think that would be quite easy. I'll just put a piece of wood up and have all the cables on top of it. So I'll make like a almost like a little tunnel over there, but I can't face doing that yet. I'll try and Tackle this. This is more of a clean with me video now, because I've got Casper's bed. I'll just pull that out. I've got a bung that I put up in the the chimney. This was a barbecue heart. I'm hoping that I can make it around the heart, so at least I'll have some kind of closure to this video. I can't leave you hanging on I've just bought some fake track, you want to see it working, don't you? So here we have my life I've never show on either of my two YouTube channels. I did half think of running you could run trains into here and have some kind of Depot under there. This is a stealth Lego City Railway. And if I fill this with track, I'm I'm going to really miss that storage space, so I think I'll just have one Loop just to start with and see if I can make it around the heart. So I'll pull this out. This is a laptop stand. It's actually quite cathartic finally cleaning this part of the heart that I haven't touched in years. And the idea with the two tiers was to maybe have a second layer here, but that would really block being able to see any, uh, train tracks underneath smooth this so I need to clean this up and we can start laying track and put the fake the not official Lego track down and see how far I can go into this corner and see if I can get it round to the back of the Ikea armchair here. I have not cleaned down here in over 5 years, if ever, and, uh, it's quite difficult removing there's quite a lot of spider home here that we're clearing. We absolutely plowing through the slum District in spider town. I am a little bit worried that once I put the Lego train tracks down that will be it and it'll be difficult to clean, but it'll add a bit of character to the hidden model railroad layout. Now I've, uh, just been down the end of the garden. I've built this really shanky, uh, there's a word for this isn't there? It's like a a tunnel that they use for stopping snow getting onto the tracks. It's just to cover the the tracks from all the leads down here, so if I install this tunnel, hopefully I can keep all the printer leads and cables just above the track level. I've now overdone it a bit and completely wrecked the heart. I know I can put it all back together again. This little tunnel has given me an idea that I could actually build a few more behind the armchair and that means I can run all my cables above the track and, uh, it's all unseen anyway, so the tunnel will help. But oh my goodness, the the spiders have kind of taken over and I I like the spiders in the heart because nothing that comes into the heart survives they manage to eat it all up, so it's really bug free in here generally. But oh, they make such a mess when they spawn. I don't if you can see that, those black marks would have had had the spider babies. So I'm going to try and clean all of this up and see if I can build a little tunnel system here. I see if I can turn this into a straight tunnel that will just be full of spiders at all times. It is now really late, so we've had dinner and I've got my son here to help me, which is it's just going to transform things. So the the happy h's not looking very happy at the moment, but I've got the box tunnel behind the armchair. So what I'm going to do now is ask my son to put together the straight bits of track and I'll add them to the official curves, the official Lego City curve track, and I'll try and clear the way ahead. I've got a try and clear a path behind the desk and sort out the cables there. I've got a fairly clear run under that bench there, and hopefully it will connect with the track that I built on the last video. At the end of this time Jump, we should have a loop of track and we'll run a train. So here we go. Go for a time Jump. Uhoh, it looks like we've lost Casper. Casper does not want any part of this. He knows this"
"Trouble. Okay, okay, so my son's gone to bed now because it's very late and he's managed to lay track all the way under. Uh, We've not gone all the way around the Hut yet, but come on, you want to see this, don't you? So, uh, let's find the Rope control. I've got it paired up, so I just take it back and this is for running it through the the tunnel. Oh, my son shot this, so he he built the track and he shot this footage of the train making it through the tunnel. He had to take the Pantagraph off the the top. I've adjusted the tunnel. I think the tunnel slipped when I pushed the armchair back. So, uh, I've adjust it now, hopefully it won't hit the ceiling. Let's see if it makes it through the armchair. Go on way you"
"Go. Yeah, now there's a, oh, I've run out of track. There is a problem here that illustrates the problem with the fake Lego Track though. Let me put some light down here. Locomotive actually derailed before it hit the end and it derailed on that curve there, on the flexible tracks. So all four wheels are properly on the track. I'm going to take it back. See if you can see on the flexi track, doesn't quite like the flexi track there. It kind of Skips over and derails. It's done that every time I've run it over those flexi tracks. I've got a couple of options here. First is I could put some kind of cushioning underneath and the second thing is I can nail the track down. I've got a feeling it's just something about the track that the train doesn't like on that curve. So I hit a problem behind the armchair here. I think the the Train's Pantagraph hit the the one of the roof boxes slipped. So I think what I've got to do is, uh, make sure I've got enough clearance. What I probably should do is to actually build something out of Lego, so that that would solve the problem, but for now I think I'm going to change the clearance so that I make sure that these wooden temporary box things don't slip and I put up a a stick of wood so that when the armchair is pushed back it doesn't disturb the height and I can see that the Pantagraph is going to clear at this level, but we'll see. I'd really like to get those Orient Express Blue carriages. They look huge. Let's go backwards full"
"Speed. Okay, I think the Tunnel of Love is a success. I don't know why I'm calling it The Tunnel of Love. I love it that's"
"Why. Ow. Frost. Okay, it's late so I'm filming this on my phone and I've got the track nearly round to where I need it to. So down here I have no idea, but I've managed to create an avalanche Gallery little tunnel here just that all my PC and this is like everything I use for my YouTube channels are protected from the track or the track is protected from the cable and this is literally all the track I've got left. I have three straight pieces and I've got a feeling I haven't got enough. I think I might be like one one track short. Oh my goodness look, so the end of the track is there coming out of the Avalanche gallery and I've got about a meter to cover. I put the the switch track the points there, so it goes all the way around the the heart completely hidden and I've just got this final section and would you believe it this this is all the track I have left. So I can put some flexi track there. I think I need to put in a lot of flexi track. I'm about four straights out. So I think the only way I can do this for now, uh, before I buy another box of fake track or maybe I'll buy the original I Don't Know But I've got all this flexy track left, so I'm just going to for now I think all of this has to be flex flexible track. Let's do a time Jump and hopefully the next shot you will see no scrub that I just wanted to show you this. I'm just about to complete the loop. You will not believe how close I am to completing the loop. So the track comes out of tunnel there and I've put some flexies in there and then put some flexi track here and look it's I am one flexible track piece over. So I've used absolutely abely every last piece of track bar this one this fake track has really helped me out of the hole there great we've done it that's the loop remote control here see if we can make history. We'll see if we can make the train go around. I'll put it on four and hopefully it won't hit a cable or something. Oh no ah I can move these cables and I'll pin them as well right so it's into the tunnel it's through the tunnel it's going under the bench it's so hidden I can't push the camera under we're across the front door that was the first phase and now it's going to go under this bench and it's going to go into the armchair tunnel will it make it out the other side yes we did it we did it I've done it"
"I wish it were lit better. I'll get you a let's get a light going hang got a nice light there. I've done it. I cannot believe after all these years of thinking about this that I finally managed to get the Lego City train tracks hidden a hidden layout all the way around the happy Hearts. It it looks really small, but it it's taken hours to try and pass this layout all the way around all the cables and boxing it in. I I just can't believe this train is doing top speed over so much fake Lego Track. The fake Lego Track the off-brand track works and it's magnificent and it has really got me out of a hole because this would have cost me a fortune to have done this with official Lego Track and even better the train runs really well over the flexi track over the flexible tracks the fake flexible tracks that's the section that has meant that I can link one end to the other and the train just Glides over it without hitch. I know what I need to do now. I need to get some kind of cork underlay I think just to help I don't mind the noise, but it would help it run more smoothly I think and I also need to now put in some some points. I can put in some station platforms and have some pass through Loops where I could put other trains. I can start buying trains now and I've got my eye on the Lego street car which I need to motorize. I am calling this a dad delivers success. Thank you for hitting the thumbs up or the Subscribe butt and it really helps me to keep this thing going and do you know what I think there might be one or two Lego train videos coming up in the future now this is running I can't believe it's still going"

THIS IS THE TRANSCRIPT - CLICK PLAY ON THE VIDEO ABOVE!
hello welcome to Brickadilly circus well actually no it's it's the the happy hut this is my garden office where I'm building a hidden Lego City train layout
I don't know if you can see it under here
I've shown it on the other videos in this playlist and if you are intrigued and want to see more I've got links under the video in the description to show you how the track works and what I'm going to build under everything
and have a... a hidden Lego City uh railroad layout under there but I needed a station I needed somewhere for the Minifigs to actually get on the train
that's where this came in I've made three other videos to get to this point
I think it's taken about seven or eight hours to build this it's a CADA London Underground Lego compatible station look... with a barrier line we've got oyster ticket Gates there
it's even got a working ticket machine you can put the money in there and a ticket comes out
and we've got a newsagents I've... I've wrecked it a bit
I've got to repair the newsagents but that's coming together nicely up above there working Lantern got some working lights which I probably show you at the end
and we've got um stairs upstairs to this area but oh no!
we've not built the top floor and that is what this video will cover today
there's an escalator as well... let's spin it around on... let me show the escalator I do really like how that looks look with Treads and the lighting just is just superb and we got an excess fares window there
that probably used to be in olden times the actual ticket office so we're going to do something up here now this is modelled on the Leslie green stations in central London I think the London electric was it called the London electric underground Railway back then on one of these in real life my favorite one is at Camden town and upstairs there's I believe a canteen for the underground staff
so the the canteen - let me show you the box I'll show you what we're working towards this is the box here it's a CADA London Underground Station and the packaging is beautiful let me get you around my equipment this is how it comes boxed and we've got the final uh bags of bricks in here
but let me show you the the canteen
this is what we're heading towards
upstairs look it's it's more of a... a bougie restaurant isn't it with a piano uh but I want to treat my Lego transit authority staff right
it's even got a clean toilet there
so that is what we're going to be building now and to do that I need the... the the bricks they come labeled as you've probably seen on my other videos - they do come numbered but they it just comes as a big heap of bricks
there doesn't seem to be any reason to to have the... the bricks in the bags it's not like a step-by-step thing
and this is what we're going to be building in real time step by step they're all labeled number four we've gone through bags one through three
these are how the CADA instructions look and we're going to build the floor first of the canteen this is going to be a bit bit dull so I'll try and get through this as quick as possible
uh but we're going to build the upstairs floor now which is uh quite exciting so let just sort the base out
I was thinking uh I still don't know the name of the Lego Transport company
if you know the name for it uh put it in the comments I want to call it TfL: transport for Lego - so I think I'm going to stick with that for now it's quite difficult to actually make sure these snap even though the Cada bricks are really clutch uh my my building technique is uh leaves a bit to be desired and as I've mentioned on the previous videos I have uh it would take a long explanation but I have reindeer rugs in the the garden office here and I don't want to get hairs trapped between the bricks
and by the way talking of bricks: on the previous video I couldn't find the proper elastic bands for the ticket machine
they were in one of the number one bags that I'd left from earlier
this is the ticket machine where you can put money in and it dispenses a ticket and it does it by pushing the back here so this is wrong
that was my bodge, these are the official elastic bands - I've got to demonstrate it haven't I
I hope there's a ticket in here already I'll put the band on and then I'll show you the the ticket machine hopefully working properly now
that did okay but I think this is the proper one
I almost want to put all three on just so that um I don't lose them
but the tickets in there and the way it works - this is brilliant - this... you you take your money your $100 bill cuz that's how much tfl charge for tickets
and you put that in here which this is great it dispenses the ticket so that actually works
that absolutely works
now what would happen if I put all three on I don't think you're supposed to do this but um it would just mean that I don't lose them
there we go that's fantastic great so I load up the ticket and then we can put the machine back in place and I'm going to put the... the money on the floor I think just as a little feature we have the the lighting built in and we're going to get the the floor to sit on that so put this ticket machine back in and then back to the second floor we're in instruction number one and this goes up to D this is the fourth bag
it goes up to D68 for the roof so the instructions are really super clear though
I am enjoying following them uh here we go so on to D number two I'm going to flip this round put this one on here also in the comments put your favorite London Underground Station in the comments
I mention this on every video but for me it's Camden town which has which looks like this but it has one backed onto another so if this were a bigger layout maybe I'll get a second one to to create my own Camden Town station I'd forgotten quite how many of these Leslie green stations there are on different lines and I think when Leslie died I've forgotten his name but someone else carried on the tradition of these red uh Oxblood tile buildings and uh made them on the the bakerloo line places like Maida Vale and Kilburn Park
all right we're going to flip this over now oh it's a bit of a Brain Brain Buster great so I'm back on track now so forgive me if you see me blowing between every instruction is to get rid of these uh molting reindeer
I really am trying to make sure it's pushed in so it doesn't curl up and then to finish up the floor just need to um build up these here
this London Tube Station top floor is already looking like a floor
eight goes here... another one... and then a six I'll try and stop saying the word Oxblood
but that is the official name of this color in London Underground speak
just lost my monitor
three here four here
excuse me I just need to lift my monitor wow we are rocking through these instructions we're can do a lot of tiling next by the look of it
in case you didn't know I think we're going to build a toilet here which I'm quite looking forward to I've never built a Lego style toilet before and a gap of three we put six there

there two there and a three there [Applause]

okay and in case you haven't seen the cada construction toy construction model clutch bricks it does actually say the word CADA on every stud which is a nice touch
make sure these are all pressed together oh by the way I'm going to be doing a time lapse of the entire build so I suspect if you are still watching you're kind of skipping ahead which is a good thing or put it on double speed uh but I will release a time a time lapse of the whole build I think so far it's taken about 7 and 1 half hours I'm not a huge fan of the tilings the thing with Lego builds now I completely understand why but they everything gets covered in tiles all the studs get hidden with tiles and to me it just makes like everything look kind of shiny which I'm not a huge fan of I do like seeing the studs and being able to put the the Minifigs anywhere uh but I completely understand why uh for looks you'd want to cover everything up with tiles but I don't know it just makes everything look like a ice skating rink that there you know I'm not a big fan of the roads that uh that go this way oh I've got one left over did I do that right then one goes here so I've got one of these left over I'm going to do some more tiling over here now by the look of it
I can see the hair trapped in there just have to cover it up
need another two there it is there now we'd get a slight uh change of color I think this is for the toilet
tiling the toilet
I'm just following this pattern
it's nice kind of 1910s pattern of bathroom furniture
that's a satisfying color scheme isn't that there we go and then we're going to do bit more tiling over here now should zoom in let's zoom in I don't need to be able to see the instructions that's the problem um I leave I'll leave the instructions up here you might be able to see them in the distance right down here
we can do this section now
just keep uh tiling up the floor here
okay that's the floor there and we're going to finish the tiling here here
great so that's the floor tiled then we're going to start building up the the bar area at the back so I've
already pre-sorted these
I can see the hairs from the
fur you can see the back wall is going to match the color of the Underground Station that's cool here's where we start to ramp things up I think so we're going to really uh romp through this uh Canteen/restaurant uh let's put some more on the back here

now we're going to put in some cabin cabin Cabinetry can't even say it just put some C cupboards maybe these are ovens then we got some drawers it's a really nice touch like these drawers open up if you can see that and the ovens or cupboards or fridges open up be able to hide things in there that would be cool is it and then put one final fridge in and then we're going to build up the back a little I've still got Parts left over from the first three builds I don't like having bits left over I feel like I've skipped something or left something out a three here
should I get this closer let's get this closer so you can see it come together it's so easy to miss a brick especially if you've got a few which are the same shape so now we're going to tile the kitchen top or the work top
and I say this with every one of these builds but I have no idea how they managed to plan out the intricacies of building this it's really impressive really well
house I like I think I leave the door is slightly open give it a bit of
Personality right next what's next oh we got bu up here now
I need to make seven no five of these they look like that they go this way around to know what that does it's going to be good isn't it

oh look there's a little sink I've just seen that goes there jumping ahead oh no that's that is part of this instruction

I'm going to uh build like a a bar that runs across so put this at the back

and then one of these at either end this is so

stylish and then these clutches I don't know if that's what you call them but they will hold a bar by the look of it so I put that there or three bars

I I need to put two

in you go there that doesn't look right

there we go got it the right way around that's

better and now we can finish the top here so this locks oops this one locks it in
and then we can put the bars in I'm sort of against a race against the clock because um my camera battery keeps dying look at that it's a really nice bar isn't that next we have to build four of these coffee jugs and it's uh really simple there's like a horn that goes into a clutch uh there's a round like clear head and a clear stud at the bottom and I've made four of

these and they go on the bar

here face them inwards then we could put a coffee cup

here and there are two more up at the back

here if I hold it up you an idea of how that looks from a mini fig POV it's nice isn't it uh we've got a cash register this is I think the last sticker to go on the clear piece there that goes this way

around and uh I've got a a tap a water tap that needs to go there Where's my water tap bre it off from the sink here I've made a sink already I'll just put that there wow that looks that's looking a lot like a very nice canteen even though I think it's supposed to be like some kind of restaurant or coffee bar now we can build up the rest of the bar here I love that these they have two different ways around going this way around

and one on the back

here and we can build these up that' be cool to have Windows there wouldn't it but that's not the plan

it's going to be quite a tall model tall Tube Station there we go now we're going to fit a back to the bar so I need one of

these and we're going to put some tiles on here

then at the back we're going to fit these funny bricks here let's zoom out I think they stack on top of each other like this and then they go behind this on here

so just pile these

up I think these go

here like that and then we'll put one last piece on here

so it looks like this and then I guess it's going to slot into place here isn't it but we'll finish up this part here I've pre-made some of these so we've got one of these um it's sort of made up of

parts and I'm going to put them in on here

show you closer there it's nice touch you got strange bricks though look at that it's a weird break isn't

it anyway we've made four of

these they go on

here and now we can put it into place on the the back of the kitchen

area and it slides down really

around oh dropped up and the probably the best bit of the whole build we'll put the toilet bowl in here and I guess there's a stud there so mini fig can sit or stand or whatever there is a little toilet roll I know there's different ways of uh making toilet rolls in Lego CER have gone with this option where I'll put it here now do you does your toilet roll go over the top or fall down behind let me know in the comments my dad puts sit behind and my son and I keep changing it around to uh being around the front well that seems a bit oh it seems a bit close to the uh to the toilet ball but okay nice and uh easy reach there and then we've built a little sink here which is uh kind of a quarter thing and a stud and a tap uh um so I'm going to put this on the wall here hope that it doesn't get vandalized something for the transport for Lego employees to uh to wash their hands now we're going to build up the the wall behind so I need these pieces here we're going to go uh one here and a three I'll put the L shape in

first this is Extreme character full do like this and then we'll we need the toilet pipe the pipe that goes to the system that goes there and now we can easily build this wall up another stud

level w we are motoring through these instructions and now we need to finish off the wall and the uh the toilet fixture and now we can cap this off with another eight and I need another four where's another four oh no I'm oh no I'm short by four I keep thinking that I'm going to miss a piece I think there's this one

here and there's um a toilet flush we need a toilet flush which is this handle here which I'd rather have my train as a controller but no it's a very oldfashioned toilet flush that looks great look at that put that there and then uh I think we're done oh no the mirror so we got a mirror so this is the bathroom it's looking very uh well appointed so the mini figs can see themselves there we go oops that's looking good push that on the side that's looking great next to right next to the food preparation area perfect so so we're good then uh obviously the most important thing with the toilet is the toilet door so we we have it I think outward opening we'll put that there so now finally have some privacy uh with the three other walls and now we can lock in all of these all of these parts so with these pieces here I'm going to put one on the side here four to lock this

in and then I think sixes got six

here and a six here

and then two

eight there we go that's looking really smart and then we'll tile it so that the the roof can sit on this comfortably and also will give a bit more privacy to the toilet so we'll put the four here and then a four and a three here let's open the oh no I've broken the broken the toilet door handle that's going to happen in time isn't it I'm not a fan of the the handle I suppose it looks sort of Art Deco which is probably after the time there we go let's let's open the door so we can see what's going on and then we'll put these tiles on

we are so close to completing this model after so many hours now I've jumped ahead we're going to do the piano area and I've actually I've I've I've gone ahead and built the piano cuz I was too excited let me take it apart slightly so you get the a feel for for how it looks so we have these white grills and these uh plates which kind of locked together with some uh nice tiles on the side and then the same with this it's like a a block with some tiles and it's holding a another tile with I think the final sticker on which is some sheet music I don't know what I wonder what the music shows uh but anyway that looks on top and then we can put the piano over on the side here it's got a space it's got three studs waiting for it on each side and then there's a really cute little piano stool which is this one it's just a a tile with two cones on and the cones should I've not done the cones properly so I think I know does it lock oh it locks onto the the stud so it kind ofes doesn't go on the outside or the inside you have to kind of set them in slightly that's a nice touch and then that can go there it should have a bare stud so there could be a a nice coffee cup on the side there should I just put coffee mug on there that's that doesn't look good does it all right we we'll get some tables in that's the next section oh no really important we' got some money some more money it's another $100 bill that's oh dear that's sat on the on the side here and now we can build the chairs and the chairs are really easy kind of build and there are eight of them so it's like a l-shape 1 by two stud there and uh this is a nice touch it's a half tile half stud and I guess the the mini fig uh no Minifigures come with this London Underground Station but I've got I've got one of mine here sit him on the chair uh so they lock at the front which is uh which is cool so I'll put it here for for perspective and then we've got chairs and tables so we've got eight chairs and I think they go here and then the table it's like a some kind of I was going to say Periscope what you call it a telescope into a tile and they have a like a socket on the top there which uh means you can put a mug which is kind of cool that's really nice so I'll just quickly put more chairs and tables in might be easier to put the the tables in first y that's cool and uh one table here and one of these chairs was missing a 1 by two which I found earlier so I can put that back on now oops just destroyed it hey if there's a bar fight a bar room braw that' be really good wouldn't it cuz he can just Smash It hey smash uh and the chair would fall apart anyway that's that's for another

video I'll just put the the tables in and the chairs I might put them in slightly wonky so they look a bit more natural rather than some kind of weird

classroom I probably shouldn't have been so easy with the the coffee mugs should I should actually have saved them for the for the table can't believe we're out of mugs already let's take one from over here then it would be have more personality wouldn't it

to let's put let's put one there oh that's a lot of fun next we're going to put up a little um ballustrade behind here because this is where the stairs come up for you to get into the the restaurant the uh tfl transport for Lego canteen staff

canteen so we'll have two um Banes don't what we call them banisters and on here there's a 1x4 and you can put some flowers on which I've already done it's but which is stuffed because it's quite difficult to lock it down with the flowers on but yeah that looks that looks really good doesn't that then to finish it off we're going to tile the top of the um of the banisters and it's says we we should have two of these but honestly I've I've got a one and a three so something's gone wrong I I at every stage oh I know what I've done wrong that's why the the piano sto didn't work it was a good job I talked that part through that's why they didn't fit that's a three so easily done oh that looks much better there we go and then the fours go on here see I every stage I doubt C's ability to give me the right tiles but they've come through yet again I can put these flowers here I'm not a big fan of the Lego flowers are you uh say hi in the comments um I'm going to put it like this I don't know if it'll fit in once I put it on top of the Underground Station Parts the uh the ticket Hall and is that it oh my goodness that's it we've we've completed this so we're going to do the roof now but let me show you just give you a little tour of this amazing restaurant and toilet on suweet very old-fashioned 1910 style uh bathroom there restroom and that is looking absolutely magnificent now I'm going to put it into the underground station but hold your horses cuz I've got the dull piece to do now and I don't want to lose you at this crucial moment before I put it all together so back down here I've skipped ahead because I knew you wouldn't want to watch me building a roof but this is what the roof looks like um I mean it's yeah tricky to to follow but I think I've done it correctly and I don't know why I've got these parts left over here maybe we'll find out I can't imagine what have I for for gotten um but on the roof we have a air conditioning unit which like two fans stuck to the side and a and like a piece of pipe that comes out that looks good at least there's some kind of detail on the roof do you know what though the best thing would be to um I I want to build this and have a modular building on top so that this would be the bottom and there'd be like some apartment or office block on top which is how the uh real life stations were were meant to be built some still have nothing on the roof and others do have buildings on top um but why why why have I got all of these tiles left over that's really wrong I'm going to have to when I finish this video I'm going to have to go back through the instructions and see uh what I've done with these I can't imagine which ones I've left because they're quite I mean there's quite a lot aren't there um and I can't see where where it would go where would those bits go did I did I do the back I did the back didn't I yeah that's all tiled so I've have no idea where I've gone wrong but I've I've clearly forgotten something somewhere see if you can spot it if you can spot where these pieces should have gone let me know in the uh in the comments anyway let's put the The Canteen restaurant and I'll see if there are any gaps see if I've made any mistakes oh no I've just broken a coffee pot okay it's a bit difficult to lift up and hold the camera at the same time I'm going to put this on top oh no there's the gray so this slides down like this oh my goodness that is so satisfying if I push it for forward there locks into place that is looking like I've not missed any parts so let me do the reveal and the lighting look at the lighting if I turn off my main light look at that that is so cool so the top is now lit and it sinks up with the staircase uh to this front door let me spin the station round give you the Big R feel this is looking so good look at that it peek through the

windows and then down to the uh ticket Hall with the barriers all in place oh the roof of course we've got a roof now haven't we the ticket machine which now works there's a news agents on there sorry about the flickerings because of the battery powered LEDs but that is looking really really cool I think I've I've accidentally pushed some things that should be on the counter there and here is the staircase the door to the staircase that leads up to the to the W to the toilet uh let's go up and you'll be able to see down here the staircase that leads to this close the toilet door it's not the first thing you want to see you want to see see this I'm so impressed with this uh CER you've done such an amazing job with this I need to dig out some Minifigures now to populate it properly be great if they were transport for Lego figures but that is the reveal of everything in place I cannot tell you how happy I am with how this looks and I think I mentioned this before but what do is um when I put it next to the the railway track I'm going to have it looking a bit like kentish Town not exactly but a little bit like kage town so if I move lift up the restaurant like this look I love that you can look inside and then let's try and remove the back wall yeah so that comes out and then the idea is that you'd be able to walk through the entrance hall and then at the back I'm going to build a platform I think this would be the that's the cable for the lighting I think I want the platform to be here so a bit like kentish town you can walk through to the the the National Rail trains and then there's the escalator to the the proper Subway or the underground so I should be I should have been using the word Subway shouldn't I it's a subway station a London subway station um it's a little bit odd having these flashes of whites but I don't know it's a bit of bit of character but I do love the idea I should lift a train up so you can see see how it would work I think I've got to work out how this is going to sit on the floor for the the train tracks that are under here for my Lego City Railway so excuse my trainers um that runs around the the garden office so there's the track and I've got the the points so I need so I need some more track and there'll be another platform in the middle as well it would kind of look a bit like this and it feels so wrong to put something so beautiful just on the floor but it it's almost the exact correct Heights for the the bench that it's up against I love the idea of just having a a hidden Lego City Railway I've got the complete track complete running Loop all the way underneath these benches and then this will be one of the stations I think this will be I'll call this one faringdon and I I love the idea of just having a train that just runs kind of uh subsurface level but with this beautiful lesli green station I just looks so good I'm not sure it would be this high but keeping it this high would mean that the pl form level at the back would be just the right height and then I could like run a platform out to the sides and in between the two tracks at the back so it' be like a double double track station and it just looks so good but being on the floor here means that I'd never get to see that amazing canteen that's at the top there with a piano I can't even push the camera inside uh I think that's going to that's going to be great the only other place I could put it would be over on the other side and i' I've kind of opted against it because it's the it's the first thing you see is you come in the door and it would kind of spoil the uh the idea of it being like a hidden city Railway let's put it over there and see how it looks already is it's covered in dirt and reindeer fur but I'm just giving you the effect of of walking into the happy heart and then obviously it'll be tidier I've absolutely wrecked The hut Building this Railway but it'll be there and maybe there' be some other buildings next to it um and it would back onto the railway track again with a second track and a platform uh in between and a platform coming out from the side here but at least here i' be able to see it and lift the roof off which I can't really do over there I think I might leave it here for now only because it's taken over 8 hours to build on camera I'm sure it would be quicker if I weren't filming it cada have done an absolutely amazing job absolutely knock out I am calling this the dad delivers success if you want to follow my other Lego City hidden train layout builds there's a link on the description here and uh on screen now thank you for hitting the thumbs up or the Subscribe button it really helps me to keep this channel and keep this layout growing and right here is what YouTube knows you want to be watching next

Why I did THIS to my Garden Pod Office!

THIS IS THE TRANSCRIPT - CLICK PLAY ON THE VIDEO ABOVE!
The trouble with garden offices is that in the summer they can get really hot, and in the winter, obviously, they can get really cold. This is the Happy Hut. I'm Neil. Welcome back to the channel, where we try new things to make your family happy, and the thing I'm trying today is to fix the Happy Hut: make it weatherproof, also maybe soundproof it a little.
So, I'm going to share some of the things I've tried this year. Uh, winter's approaching—you can see I've just got the last few apples on the tree—and, uh, we've had a really hot summer, and I'm going to show you how I've been coping with that here in the Hut, just in case there are any ideas here that might help with your insulation. It's not looking good in here, and I thought, "I've got to fix this today." And why not, why not film me fixing the Hut and also share some of the other things I've tried? So, I've just seen... Casper is really going for it out there. I've got—you can see me, I can see you...
"Casper, stop digging! No digging, no digging!"
I know it's looking a bit of a mess, but I think this is going to work, even though it hasn't quite worked so far. So, I've got some heat insulation/sound insulation. I... I... I've got a fix for that, which I'll show you in a moment. Look, look, Casper, do you want to come in now? Come on then, good boy.
But the thing that has worked is up here—the chimney. This was a barbecue Hut, and the problem with the barbecue Hut is that it's got this massive chimney in the middle, and in the summer, this big black tube just heats up and radiates heat in here. So, I... I... I had an idea when we tried out... we did a trial with the HelloFresh food. They're not sponsoring this, but, uh, I’ve managed to get something from the Hello Fresh trial. This is the bit I need. Did we get any food on it? Oh, it's a bit wet. That's okay. Don't need that, we need this.
I am using Velcro to stick the foam to the chimney, and I actually got this Velcro from a sewing shop in town, and I thought I was doing this really nice thing of, you know, supporting a local business, but they... they charged me more than it said on the packet, and it cost a fortune. This... this cost me a lot of money, and it turns out that this is the wrong Velcro as well. It's just too thin to support something this size. But anyway, this helps me to at least cut the foam to size and get it up on the chimney, and I'll do the fixing later.
I'm putting a strip around the bottom of the chimney and then using that to guide the foam into place so that I can put another ring of Velcro to hold the top of the foam. I'll put in extra strips on the side to hopefully get the whole thing to hug this cylinder. And the strip of foam from the HelloFresh box isn't long enough to make it all the way around the chimney, so once I've put this in place, I then have to measure and cut another piece of foam to fill in the gap. But that will be behind where we can see from the front door, so let's just get this big bit of foam up first and then worry about filling in the gaps.
Next I need to cut the self-adhesive Velcro into strips, and once again, this is just far too thin. Even with longer strips running across the foam, that wouldn't be enough. But later on, I managed to buy on Amazon some Velcro that's about three or four times the width of the stuff that I'm using here. Anyway, let's get it up and all measured up and stuck to the chimney. I... I wasn't to know that it wasn't going to work in the heat, and... and I'm putting some extra tape on the sides to run down the edges of the foam so that it makes a really tidy cover all the way around this black chimney that just radiates heat directly from the sun hitting the chimney on the roof outside the Happy Hut.
And the soundproofing? I haven't noticed the difference, but if I go down here... it all helps, doesn't it? So, this is what it looks like now. I think that looks really good.
Now I need to work out how to stop more sun heat getting into the Hut, and I came up with this completely hare-brained scheme. It all began when I bought a huge roll of that insulation that you can buy to put behind radiators to reflect heat into the room. For the last two years, I've been putting giant white sheets up onto the roof of the Hut to try and reflect the sun back out away from the Hut. It never works because the sheets just fall off the roof onto the floor. So, then I thought, what if I cut this foam foil into panels and make giant square reflective sheet that I could use to basically put over the hot spot on the roof? It's a bit like a Bond supervillain's terrible scheme, but do you know what? I think this might actually work.
All I need to do is figure out a way of fixing this giant panel of foil onto the roof of the Hut.
I'm feeding a rope through the chimney, out down the roof, and then lashing it to the top of the panel.
I've cut a special hole for it, and all I need to do is go back inside the Hut and pull the panel into place.
That's the plan in my head. Let's see if it works out.
Sun's gone in now, but I think it just about covers what I need it to cover.
Uh-oh, need to weigh it down somehow, but that's pretty much the coverage I wanted... Oh man, the wind's going to take it. It wasn't windy yesterday. I need some way to fix it to the bottom here. I don't want to tape it because I'd have to tape it every time.
So we go into the Hut... ah, the rope comes from up there.
If I give it a little pull... tie it off on one of these lamps, which isn't great, but it'll do for now.
I, uh, don't really want it in the background of my videos. Let's just, uh, put it there for now.
Oh, where'd it go?
Oh, it's blown over there. Completely useless!
I think I need to anchor it down here.
I figured out a fix for this, and that is to put a second rope onto the side. So all I need to do is somehow cut a hole into the side and reinforce it with some tape so it won't tear, and then lash it to the side of the dormer window here.
I'm hoping that between the two ropes, it should hold it in place at the exact angle for where the maximum sun hits.
So, I think I've done it. Doesn't look great, but, uh, I've just lashed it to the side there, and I've put a bit of reinforcing tape there because, if I zoom in up there, I can see my next problem is going to be that the rope's going to tear the top of the silver foil.
So, when I bring it down tonight, I'll probably reinforce that with some tape, if it lasts the day.
But I'm hoping that's just going to deflect the worst of the sunshine this week because it really does heat up this area.
And I've got these boards for soundproofing, but it's cool here and hot here, and I'm not sure that's a good thing—to have the wood not being able to dissipate the heat.
So, if I've stopped the heat hitting the wood in the first place, it should hopefully cool this down.
Already, these boards... they're hot, they're really hot to the touch. Now I've got the foil blocking the sunshine, and I have the foam stopping the chimney radiating heat into here. It hopefully should be just a bit more bearable in here.
It is three months later now, and the chimney is working really well.
This has really helped stop radiating the heat, and I'm hoping that it will keep warm.
But now I'm in the... the... starting to be cold in October. It's, uh, 10°, 12°, there. You can see that my experiment with the Hello Fresh foam on the walls, the kind of ceiling panels, they've not worked at all, at all. And I've used the same thin strip. It's fixed to the wall beautifully. It's not fixed to the foam beautifully at all.
So, I've bought this Velcro.
It's not actual Velcro, I'm using the brand name as a noun, which I know everyone loves, but I've actually got something a lot thicker, and I know that if I put this onto the foam panels... well, let's just start doing it in time-lapse. Here I am putting the Velcro onto the foam panels.
Oh no, I put the wrong stuff on!
I thought... I've not got much of this. I've basically put the soft stuff on the wall, and now I've put the soft stuff on the foam, when actually I should have used the crinkle stuff. So, I've just wasted about 3m worth of fake Velcro.
ADHD...!
So now I've got to remove it.
I've just rendered all of this completely useless.
Oh, I wish... I'm actually watching videos about ADHD and how it affects executive function.
I can't believe I just did that.
[Music]
Right, so now... now I've done that, I don't have enough for any other panels, but at least if I can get one panel up, it will just prove to myself and to this video that this might actually work.
Let me just readjust over here, and we'll do a little timelapse. I'll probably start with the top one. I've got to take off all of these strips that just didn't work. Well, it was worth a try, it was worth a try.
Someone asked me, "Why don't you use double-sided sticky tape?" And that's a really good question.
I just thought, whenever I've put double-sided sticky tape up, it has left a completely permanent residue.
I've never been able to remove double-sided sticky tape from walls, so I thought at least with the Velcro, if I had to take something down like this... so, this is, you know, absolutely case in point why I was probably right to go with Velcro—because it's taken me several tries to get this right.
Have a look at this.
This... this is the wreckage of just putting a bit of Velcro on some free foam.
As well as keeping the heat and the cold out, these panels will also help my Happy Hut Studio. This garden office is my YouTube studio, so having these panels in place will keep it a bit warmer or a bit less cold, and also it should improve the sound recording in here.

It's time to go up the ladder. I do this twice a year.
The reason I do it is because this was a barbecue Hut. This was the big chimney—I was going to say extraction fan, but it's not, it's just a hole in the ceiling—and it has lots of vents around the chimney as well to let all the smoke escape.
So, I've made this... I've made this homemade insulation.
So, I've got joggers and a pair of jeans with loft insulation inside.
I'm just going to... I have to open this hole here, so that actually goes out to the night sky up there. And every year, about this time, I tuck it back in and try to insulate for the winter.
Winter is coming, and I have to remember how I've done it each year.
I'm just going to fill up every last gap because anything that is open will mean heat loss in the Hut.
The finishing touch—oh, bang my head—the finishing touch is to put this, uh, chimney bung that I made myself up the chimney, and it stops the spiders and nesting wasps coming down.
Just put this up, and it's actually quite tricky to make it airtight, but that... that does quite a good job.
And then I've got a second cushion here. I was thinking of getting a proper chimney bung.
Tell me in the comments if you've, uh, if you've used anything that's worked for you.
But this padding seems to work through the winter. I'll just keep it up there and just hope that it doesn't, you know, fall on my head in February.
I'm calling this a Dad Delivers success!
Thanks for coming with me on this journey through the seasons. I... I guess I'll be doing this all over again in April.
Thank you for hitting the... the thumbs up. Thank you for hitting the thumbs up or the subscribe button. It really helps us to keep this channel going. Really appreciate it. And right here is what YouTube knows you are going to love watching next!

Hello, welcome back to the channel where we try new things to make your family happy, and today I'm absolutely beside myself! I've got a new thing for my garden office, the Happy Hut behind me, and it's... is this! I can't believe... I can't believe it's finally arrived!

For the last couple of videos, I have been building this stealth hidden Lego City train track—this railroad layout—and it runs all the way around the floor of my garden office. And I finally got the loop of track to connect with some fake Lego at the end of the last video, and I was looking into some other... I don't think "fake Lego" is, uh, it's not an appropriate term, is it, within the Lego community? Leave me a comment below for what I should call it. What are they called—Alt Lego or, uh, Clutch Brick Toys? But anyway, this is made by CADA... can't even pronounce the name of the company... Cada. Apparently, they are really reputable fake Lego, uh, pretend-like, mock Lego. They have released this absolutely beautiful London Underground station in the Lego style, in the Lego idiom. I know this is all the wrong... the wrong terms, the wrong terminology for this kind of thing, but I am so excited!

I saw it by chance online, uh, because online knows that I'm into Lego and I'm into London Underground as well, and the two have been put together by a designer called Tobias Thieme. His name's on the front—Tobias Thieme—and Tobias, you have done an absolutely amazing job! I'm going to build this in real time, step by step, I'm going to record the whole... the whole thing. This model London Underground station, I think it's the Leslie Green style of London Underground station with the oxblood tiles, this model features working barriers—you know, Oyster-style ticket barriers. It's got a work... working ticket machine, and it has lighting as well, so it glows... glows in the dark at night.

I've just completed the loop of track around the Happy Hut, my garden office just behind me, but it's missing some buildings, it's missing some life. And I was going to put some station platforms in, but when I saw this, I thought... I dropped everything and thought, "I've got to do this first and build the whole layout around this one station."

I think... let's go into the Hut now and just start building this thing. My... my... I've got an Ikea desk, which is basic... it's basically cardboard. It looks solid, but it's got cardboard inside, so it kind of bows slightly, or bows slightly, so it's not quite the flat surface that it could be. And, you know, just as a first impressions review, the... the bricks, the Clutch Bricks construction set, do work really well. So, this underfloor section is actually to house the mechanism for opening the ticket barriers, which is really clever.

What are you building at the moment? Leave a... leave a comment, tell me what you're building. And my goodness, if you are doing Lego railway, Lego City train railroad tracks, say hi in the comments! I really want to buy that streetcar. There's a new tram—we call it... we call them trams—I think they're sold in the States as streetcars. That'll be my next build, I think. But let's give it a station to go to.

So now we're into two bricks—thank goodness! There's a nice mix of plate work and bricks so far to match my attention span of a crack baby. If you have any questions or comments, um, say hi below, and if you're into this kind of video, uh, help me get better by hitting the subscribe button. It would really, really help me to keep this thing going. I'm going to build this railway, come what may!

So, if you've just joined us, the, uh... I'm just building the mechanism for the automatic ticket barriers in the floor, and we've just got a little teasing, tantalizing bottom tread of the escalator that will go up through the station. It's really reassuring that the... that the pile of bricks is going down, though. I come from an era where we had the flat road plates, and we didn't have the studs that Lego now make—you know, those roads which are shiny, smooth. I don't like them. I completely understand why... why they're there. It's to fit in with the modular system, I guess, of buildings. But I... I like my flat roads that bend over time, and we've got these random studs so that minifigs will be able to stand.

I reckon... it doesn't come with minifigs, so... these are all the bricks left from the whole of the first section. All those bags have finally gone down to...

Oh, looks like... oh, we've hit the top of the escalator. I thought the escalator might have been a bit bigger. Like, there's nothing stopping me from building a giant escalator—St. John's Wood... St. John's Wood has to be the best escalator in the world for me. I love that station. You could keep going... Can you cut a hole... ah, you can't. You'd have to cut a hole in the base plate to keep the escalator going all the way down, scale-style.

And then we're going to lay on some more tiles, I think, behind the barriers. So we're going to tile the hall... no... that... that... I've... I've just got some really rubbish comments on the channel lately, and I just think, "Oh my goodness! You've got... you've got the ability and time to do anything, and you're moaning at me about something I've put in a video?" Aren't you, like, grateful and thankful that you can breathe and walk and go out into the sunshine or make your own videos? But I didn't say that in the reply...

Tell me in the comments what your favorite London Underground station is. Mine... I think mine is Camden Town. It's... it's not the greatest station in terms of looks, and it got... it got bombed in World War II, and they... they just didn't bother... they didn't bother repairing it. So, just this big kind of flat wall at the back and in the street. I think they're going to change that when they redevelop it, but those redevelopment plans are on hold right now.

Great, so managed to do that one. We've only got 32 stickers to apply, so it's going very well. We're going to put some really stylish fronts onto the entrance here, start building up these pillars that will form the entrance of the London Underground station.

[Music]

I actually looked up last night... I've got some... some official signs for the Oyster barriers as JPEGs, so I really want to print those out, uh, maybe next weekend. So yeah, this really reminds me of the interior of, uh, Embankment Station, and it doesn't have one of these Leslie Green-style buildings, but the interior, you know, that would go down to the District and Circle lines.

We're going to put some big walls up, and thankfully CADA have given us big, big wall pieces... let's zoom out... I'm going to build up some of these oxblood tile walls, and oxblood is the color that, uh, the designer calls it.

The instructions from Cada are so beautifully drawn, and they've been really clear so far. It's taken me five and a half hours... because of me, not because of the instructions.

[Music]

[Applause]

We're going to do something up here now... this is modeled on the Leslie Green stations in central London. The... I think the London Electric—is it called the London Electric Underground Railway back then? On one of these, in real life, my favorite one is at Camden Town. And upstairs there's, I believe, a canteen for the Underground staff. Upstairs, look, it's... it's more of a... a bougie restaurant, isn't it? With a piano. But I want to treat my Lego Transit Authority staff right! It's even got a clean toilet there, so that is what we're going to be building now. And this is going to be a bit... bit dull, so I'll try and get through this as quickly as possible. Uh, but we're going to build the upstairs floor now, which is, uh, quite exciting. I was thinking, uh... I still don't know the name of the Lego Transport company. If you know the name for it, uh, put it in the comments. I want to call it TfL—Transport for Lego—so I think I'm going to stick with that for now.

I think so far it's taken about seven and a half hours. I'm not a huge fan of the tiling. It's the thing with Lego builds now—I completely understand why—but everything gets covered in tiles. All the studs get hidden with tiles, and to me, it just makes, like, everything look kind of shiny, which I'm not a huge fan of. I do like seeing the studs and being able to put the minifigs anywhere. Uh, but I completely understand why, for looks, you'd want to cover everything up with tiles. But I don't know... it just makes everything look like an ice-skating rink!

Great, so that's the floor tiled. Then we're going to start building up the... the bar area at the back. Wow, that looks... that's looking a lot like a very nice canteen, even though I think it's supposed to be, like, some kind of restaurant or coffee bar. I suppose it's these finishing touches that really add to the visual interest. And we'll build up this side here, and is that it? Oh my goodness, that's it!

But let me show you, just give you a little tour of this amazing restaurant and toilet, en suite. Very old-fashioned, 1910-style, uh, bathroom there... restroom. And that is looking absolutely magnificent. Now I'm going to put it into the Underground station. I want to build this and have a modular building on top, so that this would be the bottom and there'd be, like, some apartment or office block on top, which is how the, uh, real-life stations were... were meant to be built. Some still have nothing on the roof, and others do have buildings on top.

And the lighting! Look at the lighting! I'll turn off my main lights—look at that! That is so cool! And it syncs up with the staircase, uh, to this front door. Let me spin the station around, give you the big reveal... this is looking so good! Look at that—peek through the windows and then down to the, uh, ticket hall with the barriers all in place. Oh, the roof! Of course, we've got a roof now, haven't we? The ticket machine, which now works. There's a newsagent's on there. Sorry about the flickering—it's because of the battery-powered LEDs, but that is looking really cool!

I need to dig out some minifigures now to populate it properly. It would be great if they were Transport for Lego figures. It would kind of look a bit like this... and it feels so wrong to put something so beautiful just on the floor, but it... it's almost the exact correct height for the... the bench that it's up against. I love the idea of just having a... a hidden Lego City railway.

I am calling this a Dad Delivers success! If you want to follow my other Lego City hidden train layout builds, there's a link in the description here, and, uh, on screen now. Thank you for hitting the thumbs up or the subscribe button—it really helps me to keep this channel and keep this layout growing. And right here is what YouTube knows you want to be watching next!

THIS IS THE TRANSCRIPT - CLICK PLAY ON THE VIDEO ABOVE!
hello welcome back to the channel where we try new things to make your family happy and today it's a... it's quite an exotic one and it's very specific
The new thing that we're trying is to get a bus for the very first time here in Rome uh we're going to try and go into the city that's why we're at this bus stop here and I think we've got to validate these... these cards
They're valid for 72 hours there you go Joe you could put it in the machine
Over to the machine over here.
And you just put the put the card in he's probably going to wait for us to do it there we go, is it done it I can't see
let's do...
what all right...
You put this you put this in the machine? okay
He says it works.
There you go, there you go you press the button
put it in
Force it in.
Which way round?
Which way round?
Try the other way
What way did you do it?
With the barcode facing me.
Where's the date stamp?
I haven't got one!
Why not?
I don't know!
oh there you go hey right see put Arrow... Arrow Way Down... we'll be there in a minute Is it that way?
The arrow. The arrow's the clue.
There you go.
oh that was funny the bus driver was having none of it!
So this our first bus.
So all the uh duolingo that I did for... oh you know half an hour on the uh plane on the way over just escaped me!
We didn't realize this but you can actually use the back doors as well
Unfortunately I've scared the kids by putting lots of videos about Pickpockets on WhatsApp so now everyone's terrified of uh getting on the the the Metro - the train - so as a bonus we we're now going to get off the bus and get into a metro train and try not to get pickpocketed.
Okay so I don't know if this the right stop.
We went sailing past um the metro station
let's go whoa, watch it!
why are you so...
we think we found the metro station uh just can't find the entrance
okay so this is the entrance it looks really... oh look B for the B line!
oh man here we go
there we go
[Music]
[Music]
Man I've put the fear of God into my family there's no one here but we're still looking out for pickpockets
[Music]
[Music]
Grazie! Grazie!
Grazie!
[Music]
I didn't mean to crumple it that was an accident
I didn't know... I didn't know he was going to ask for it back!
That was mistake number two
So this is our stop: Circo Massimo
I don't know if I pronounced that right I can see barriers we just got to get to the barriers without being pick pocketed
Circo Massimo!
It's very dark the the Rome Metro
undergrounds should be really lit
Oh yeah here we go we just walk through oh yeah you can just walk through these that's what you needed to put the ticket in it's oneway barrier so that's a bit easier just hop over
people literally walk around with boxes of pizza you
other other cities have rats but here they just have pizza no no they have pizza places
so look we just walked out of the exit straight into a Roman ruin I love this place
it's absolutely gorgeous so I hope this uh this video is helpful I'm not sure it was um but if it is we've got loads more
so thank you for hitting the thumbs up or the Subscribe button I'm right here next to the Metro sign this what you YouTube knows you are going to love watching next guys look!

Turns out this Fanta story isn't strictly true but I love the thought process. We've since heard story is that the Allied blockade stopped Coca Cola's syrup from getting to Germany, which forced the Germans to create Fanta...

Nazi Germany? What, because Coke pulled out... of Germany. What we heard, Coke pulled out of Germany, so then the Germans invented Fanta. Um... so that makes it Hitler's PRIME. Yeah, Logan Paul and KSI are Prime. They've copied... Hitler beat them... so it's Hitler's Prime.
Hitler's Prime. Fanta is Hitler's Prime.
I'm so gonna get demonetized for that. You're gonna get cancelled. For that

How I HALVE our Internet Broadband monthly bill... with just 2 calls.

All about me, and getting these by email.

How I HALVE our Internet Broadband monthly bill... with just 2 calls.

Cheaper Broadband! What is the best broadband internet deal? How do you get onto the cheapest broadband package price or negotiate your monthly fees down? I show how I halved our monthly internet costs by making only 2 phone calls - though, the second call was made by the broadband company to me! If you hate to negotiate, I share how I avoid all the sales talk and leave it to the internet company to bring the best broadband plans to you, with 3 best tips at the end for how to bring your internet bill down.

How I HALVE our Internet Broadband monthly bill... with just 2 calls.

TRANSCRIPT: (CLICK PLAY ON THE VIDEO ABOVE)

THIS IS THE TRANSCRIPT - CLICK PLAY ON THE VIDEO ABOVE!
Are you watching your internet broadband fee go up and up and up each month? You know in your bones that you could get a better deal or even move to another provider, but you're putting off making that call and making those savings that you know you could make right now. I know exactly how you feel, so I'm going to show you how I halved—yes, *halved*—our monthly fee from £54.39 a month all the way down to £20 a month for 18 months. And I know that's even more than 50%, and over the course of 18 months, that will save us over £600. So, uh, it's the wind, I’m not crying tears of joy.
I know why you're putting this off—because the broadband companies do everything they can to make you feel bad about this and to make you feel grateful for what you've got. And you don't want to make that call because you... you don't want to make things worse, or... or you don't want to be offered a deal that's not that good, but you're going to take it because you're scared that you'll lose even that.
I'm going to show you how I ignore all of that and what I do to sidestep some of the sales techniques they use to try and make us pay more each month for our broadband. It's going to involve making two phone calls at least, and you've just got to hold your nerve. The... the trick behind this is to completely believe that you *will* leave this broadband provider.
Now I've got the whole family on my back saying: “What?! Don't lose our internet! Don't get our internet cut off!” and it does involve a bit of nerve, thinking that that might happen. But I promise you, if everything goes wrong, you can just go back as a new customer. That's the first tip.
*Can I start by taking your full name?*

Are you the main account holder?

*Yes.*

And do you know how much your latest bill was?

*Uh, £54.39.*

Okay, I'm just going to get into your account. So how can I help today?

*Uh, just need to, uh... I just need to cancel the, uh, the account, please.*

Okay, can I ask the reason for the... the disconnection?

*Yeah, my wife’s found a... a broadband deal for £20 a month, and, uh, I think this is in my name, so I... I need to close this down so she can get that one started.*

Is that with us also?

*No.*

Let’s see, is there a new supplier?

*Yeah.*

Okay, I mean, I... I could see if I can get the... get your price down because you've been with us a while. So even though it’s £54 at the minute, there'll be some... some pretty good discounts on your account. Are you happy enough with the speed, the 250 speed?

*Yes, thank you.*

Does anybody work from home with the internet?

*Yes.*

And how many people are in the house at one time?

*Uh, four. Four people.*

Okay, so keeping the same speed, I'd get it down to £30 a month, down from £54.

*Yeah, that's more than the £20 that she’s found, so I... I don't really need that, thank you.*

So is it £20 dead?

*Yeah, for two years, I think.*

Okay, and what speed is that—uh, same speed?

I mean, that will be a new customer deal, so it will be heavily discounted. But then you just have to... just watch when you come out of contract because the price will double.

*Yeah.*
When you come out of contract.

*Yeah, they tend to put it up, don't they?*

Yeah, but that's just because it’s a bit like this one where you've come out of contract...

*Uh-huh.*

So, I mean, if you did stay, I've got my own discount. I’d get it down to £23... £23 a month.

*Yeah, that's... that's still more than £20 a month.*

It is, but considering it's a new customer deal elsewhere, because you've been with us nine years, I'm not matching it, but I'm not... not far off.

*Yeah, at the moment...*

That's what happens when you are with somebody a long time, is your discounts get better over... over the time. So, in the long run, you are better off staying. In the short term, you're going to be paying £20, but then all these discounts that are on your account at the moment are just going to disappear.

*Yeah, but for two years, that's... that's more than... that's more than £20.*

But only just, I mean, it’s three pound out, and that's your customer deal—yeah, you're an existing customer with us. I mean, I can give you a speed upgrade for the £23 as well.

*I don’t...*

I can go up to the 350 for £23 now.

*I was really happy with the 250, to be honest. So I can't really go back and say I’ve... I’ve... I can't cancel it because I'm paying more. I’ll look like a bit of a chump. I... I look like a bit of an idiot, so I... I can't do that, sorry.*

I mean, just to cancel over three pound seems a bit of a shame.

*Yeah, but I...*

You have a cooling off period with your new suppliers, so even though you've signed up, you can still cancel and change your mind. You know... you don't have to tell them what price it is. You can just cancel, if you... if you want.

*Yeah, but at the moment it's... it's... it's less than £54 a month, so I... I... I think I've better, you know, just close this. Do you... do you need me to send back the... the... the box? Do I need to post that back to you?*

Yeah, we need it back. So is the new service installed yet?

*Uh, no. She’s just waiting for me to do this, so I... I... I just need to... to... to close this.*

So you no longer give 30 days notice. You would just go through your new supplier, uh, so once you've signed up with them...

*Yeah.*

Um, to avoid any unnecessary bills, you just go through them, okay? So, um, you would just notify your new supplier of your intention to switch, and we'll send any and all the relevant information out.

*Okay.*

Um, so you need to contact your new provider who will notify us of your intention to switch. As soon as you've got your install date, uh, your disconnection then lines up with that, okay? So it’s just a bit easier way of doing it.

*Oh, lovely. Thank you.*

No problem. Is there anything else I can help with?

*No, that's... that's really helpful. Thanks for your help.*

No problem, no problem. So you just need to organize it with your new supplier now, um, just get the install date, and they'll do the rest for you.

*Brilliant, lovely. Thanks for your help.*

Well, no problem, no problem. Have a nice weekend.

*Yeah, you too. Have a great weekend.*

Thanks a lot. Thanks. Bye-bye.

*Bye-bye now.*
Okay, so that took 12 minutes. I mean... oh, it's difficult, isn't it? It's difficult; it's brinkmanship. But I say stick with it—go with it. So they've offered £23, and I know you're probably screaming at the screen saying, "Take it, take it, take it," and you're probably right. And it might be that they say, "Oh no, we can't offer that to you again—we've offered it already," but... I’ll put some lights on.
I say stick with it, because it was £20 a month. I've had that for the last four years, and £23—is that a 15% increase? Also, I’m... it's sticking in my throat slightly, as you can probably hear, that they've obviously whacked me on to £56 per month, so I've paid that, so I've got to now divide that extra over the two years.
Hold strong!
But now it’s two days later, and guess what? They called back! They called back, and luckily I've managed to start the camera rolling. The sound's a bit rubbish at the beginning, so I put subtitles on the screen, but this is what happens next.

*Yeah, it’s £54.39.*

Would you say you’re sort of happy with that speed, or do you have any issues with it?

*No. No, it's perfect. Absolutely.*

Just to cut in here for a moment—did you notice that the very first question that was asked is: “Are we happy with our internet speed?” Now that's a really standard question, but last night we were having real problems with our internet. It... it was almost as if the speed was being throttled, and it might have been a complete coincidence that we just happened to have problems with the internet now, or who knows—maybe it's part of the sales tactic. Just don't know.

*Okay, so. If I was to apply a new discount for you, um, basically if I sort of rebuild the package for it, it’s 250—the sort of standard price for it now comes in at, uh, at £60. But then I've got a £37 discount here to drop it down to £23 a month. And then what I can do on top is apply a £3 personal discount, which is the highest one we can offer for, uh, for broadband deals. The overall price—I can then drop it down to £20 a month for you.*

*That would be really helpful, because my wife has managed to find somewhere for, for £20 a month, so if... if you're able to offer, like... oh, can I, how long would that be for, please?*

*It’s, uh, for 18 months, and it’s the same speed that you’ve got now there as well, so you wouldn’t be sort of dropping it down at all.*

*Okay. And, I mean, during on this term, that actually went up during the 18 months. Is it likely to go up during the 18 months, you know, whatever we go through now?*

*Well, in regards to all providers, we also go through a rate of inflation increase every year. So every April with ourselves, it goes up by 3.9% plus rate of inflation slack. So like last year, it went up by 8.8% altogether. So if you, if it goes up by 8.8% again, you’re going down to £20, uh, plus 8.8%, it will then go up by about £1.70. So after April, it will go by about £21.76.*

*Brilliant. That’s really helpful. So that’s in April. Lovely. Um, well, do... do I need to do anything to... to... make this happen?*

*So, um, if you were happy to... to go ahead with it, um, that’s all I do on this call, is it just sort of send you over the details? You’ve got to copy in writing, and then I... I put it all through for you then, my end, so it'll only take me a couple of minutes there.*

*Brilliant. Well, that's, um... yeah, let's... let’s do it, then. Uh, move back. Thank you.*

*Brilliant. Because, um, your latest bill was £54.39. Um, your next bill with us will only be £2.81, so you're getting some credit back for it. And then after... after the £2.81 in November, uh, December then will just be the £20 onwards to you, okay?*

*Perfect, thank you.*

*Brilliant, um, anything else that they could look up for you today?*

*No, it’s extremely helpful. Thanks, thanks for your time.*

*Yeah, no, that’s no worries. Well, thank you for your time anyway, and take care now.*

*Thank you. Thanks for the call.*

So we did it! We managed to cut the broadband bill by more than half, and we're going to be saving over £600 over... over the 18 months. So it's—my goodness, those two phone calls are painful, but they're really worth doing.

The first technique is to make sure that, uh, you give them a date of notice, so a 30-day notice. Start the call by saying, “I want to end this on...” If it’s the 25th this month, say the 25th next month.

The second thing I do is to put the blame on someone else. So I'm lucky I have a beautiful wife that I can blame for these things, and it means that all the sales techniques won't work because I've told them I'm not the decision maker on this, and that really steps up their game.

The third is to *not* accept the first offer. Whatever they tell you is a first offer, and even if they say “This is it—if you don’t answer now, we’re going to take this away,” or imply that—just know that you can take your business anywhere, and you could even leave and come back as a new customer where you'll definitely get a better deal anyway. But they don’t want to do that—they just want to keep the people they want. They want to reduce their churn. For the companies, it's not personal; it's a numbers game. But for us, it's intensely personal because we don’t want the internet to get cut off, and I don’t want my family blaming me for losing the internet to the whole house.

So I appreciate there’s real pressure here, and they know it. Don’t let them make you feel grateful for something you're paying a lot of money for. I am calling this a dad delivers success! Leave me a comment down below and tell me some of your techniques or tips and tricks that you use to keep your internet broadband monthly fees down. And thank you for hitting the thumbs up or the subscribe button—it really helps me to keep this channel going. I really appreciate it, and right here is what YouTube knows you want to be watching next.
