How to TURN OFF Macbook startup sound

How do you turn off the Apple Macbook startup sound? In this video, I'm sharing how to stop the Macbook opening sound for a Macbook Pro, Macbook Air, M1, M2 or who knows... M3! It's all in the Macbook system settings, under the "Sound" tab to turn off the start up chime.

Hello, I've got an Apple MacBook Pro, and I love it except for one big thing: that MacBook startup sound. 

How do you stop this really annoying bootup chime? 

You get the sound when opening the MacBook Pro or MacBook Air, M1, M2, M3. 

Either way, it's really frustrating. 

This thing goes off even if we have our headphones plugged in!

Let's turn off this startup sound in settings right now on your MacBook desktop. 

First, click on the Apple logo in the top left-hand corner. 

Then choose System Settings. 

That brings up this window, which has all the settings for the MacBook. 

On the left-hand side, we have all these tabs, and we're going to click on the button marked Sound. 

Here we can control all the settings for the MacBook's sound, including play sound on Startup. 

We will click once on this blue toggle switch here. 

And now, we have turned off the Apple MacBook Pro startup sound.
