How much STORAGE does a DJI Osmo Nano camera use?

How much memory does the DJI Osmo Nano camera actually use? I took the time to measure the file sizes for every combination of resolution (1080p/4K), frame rate (25/50/60fps), and bit rate (Standard/High). I'm sharing the full data revealing exactly how many minutes per gigabyte you can expect from your vlogging camera footage.
See the data and decide if you'll shoot 1080p or 4K?

How much file storage does a DJI Osmo Nano camera use when it when you're out filming? How much file storage does those video files take? How much memory do you need to buy? How many gigabytes per minute does the Nano use? Or how many minutes can you get per gigabyte? I'm going to show you everything in this table here. I've had a really fun morning. By the way, this is the very first time I'm out filming with the with the DJI Osmo Nano in the rain. Uh such is climate change that uh it's it's been a few days since we've had some rain and I'm out taking my cocker spaniel dog Casper out for a walk, but I wanted to share with you how big are the video files on the DJI Nano. And I know it's something that's unavoidable, but it is useful to know how how much storage these video files take because I it really affects me as a vlogger. It does influence whether or not I shoot in 1080p or 4K. I'm actually shooting this video in 4K at 50 frames per second. I'm on rock steady stabilization and I'm on standard dewarp field of view. Just in case you might be watching these videos trying to decide whether or not you want to buy this camera. I'm trying I'm talking a lot so you get lots of footage as well. I will get to these file sizes. I'll put them on screen. So to measure how big the file sizes are on the DJI Osmo Nano camera. I made some really boring videos this morning in my kitchen. I was actually shooting some low low light tests just to see if I could improve the the shutter or the wobble in the footage, but I realized that if I shot for 1 minute, then I'd know how. So, I'm out of breath and I've just only walked from over there. I thought if I shot these one minute videos, I'd know exactly how big the file sizes are for one minute and then I could work out how many minutes you'd get per gigabyte or how many gigabytes the nano takes per minute. So, this is the actual folder from the videos that I took this morning, but I've I've got AI to put them into a nice table that are on screen now. Let's take a look at them. And the rain is getting worse. Sorry if the uh the rain hitting my jacket is uh making the the audio crunchy. Uh by the way, I'm using my DJI Mic 2 for this. So, the first videos I took were at 25 frames per second. That's because I live in the UK and we're on an electrical standard. So, if you're on 25 frames per second, your footage should flicker less or 50 frames per second, which is what I'm shooting in now, even though there's no electrical lights here. I am in the middle of a field. So, look, this is the information we wanted. So, shooting bog standard, this is what I'd usually shoot at. 1080p with the standard rate bit rate, which is the default standard in the camera. I'll explain that in a moment. But shooting for 1 minute took 193 MB, which means that 1 GB of storage gives me 5 minutes 20 seconds. Now, your your mileage might vary, but these are just ballpark figures just to give you an idea of how big the video file sizes are when you're shooting with a DJI Nano. Then, I tried to improve the low light situation by setting the bit rate to high. the camera will use more memory to encode hopefully more information. And I wondered if that would help with the shutter in the kitchen. I've got a whole other video. I'll put that in the description about trying to improve the low light footage on the DJI Nano. But anyway, at high bit rate, it was 226 MB for 1 minute of footage. And that translates to 4 1/2 minutes per GB at 1080 high bit rate 25 frames per second. So then I thought, well, would 4K improve the low light situation? I've been advised it wouldn't because the camera would then trying to be cope with a bigger video file while also stabilizing as well. So I don't think it would improve the uh the low light situation. But this is the the footage. Gauge it for yourself. The file size at 4K for a 1 minute video is 384 MB, which means that I get 2 minutes 40 seconds per gigabyte at 4K at 25 frames pers. And then finally, I set it into high bit rate uh just to see if there was an improvement in the quality. And that came out that one minute of footage took 660 megabytes. And if you translate that the other way round, it means I get basically one and a half minutes per gigabyte at 4K. And then I thought, what if I were to shoot at 50 frames per second like I'm shooting now? This footage now. I might have some rain on the lens there. Forgive me. So, let's take a look at at these file sizes. for 1 minute of footage at 1080p at the standard bit rate at 50 frames per second. The file size is 260 mb. So that means it's nearly 4 minutes per gigabyte. At the high bit rate, I'll show you some footage here. This is at 1080 at 50 frames pers. That 1 minute of footage takes up 368 MB, which equates to 2 minutes 47 seconds per gigabyte. So that's at 50 frames per second at the higher bit rate. It's a lot of lot figures to work through, but I'm hoping the footage gives you some kind of context for it, even though it's just me wandering around a dark kitchen. At 4K, shooting at standard bit rate, 1 minute of footage on the DJI Osmo Nano camera takes 486 MB. So that is roughly 2 minutes or 2 minutes 7 seconds per gigabyte. And at the very top end, so we're now at 4K at the high bit rate at 50 frames per second. That is a whopping 810 megabytes for one minute of footage on the DJI Nano, which means that we get 1 minute 16 seconds per gigabyte at 4K 50 frames per second. Now, I I know you're not watching this in the UK and you're going to be, uh, but what about 60 frames per second? We need to know. Well, I did it. I... I shot 1 minute at 4K at 60 frames per second at the high bit rate. And I'll put on screen here how many megabytes that 1 minute took and how many minutes per gigabyte that means at 60 frames per second at the high bit rate. So, it's quite interesting for me the the the change from 25 frames per second to 50 frames pers. The recording time dropped from 5 minutes 19 seconds to 3 minutes 57. So it didn't double the file size, but it certainly made it bigger. And at 4K high rate at the high bit rate, the recording time dropped from 1 minute 34 seconds per GB to 1 minute 16 seconds. Doubling the frame rate to 50 frames per second needs roughly 25% to 35% more storage per minute. I'm just reading this off. I've not done those sums. Is this is this useful? Is this what you wanted to know? When when I am interested in a new camera, I want to devour as much information as possible and see as much footage as possible. So that's why I'm just vlogging in a field in the rain just to show you what the Nano is like. Hang. I've got to do a lens wipe. The footage for me looks absolutely wonderful in sunny weather. This is really overcast today and we've got light drizzle. Casper's really enjoying it though. But how's it for you? This was quite interesting for me. I think if anything it makes me feel better shooting things at 4K. It's something I tend to avoid because I think, oh, these files are huge. But I've got a system to dump it off the camera onto a onto a hard drive and to archive it on a hard drive. So maybe shooting at uh 4K high bit rate at 50 frames per second or 60 frames per second is something I might feel more comfortable with knowing these figures and I'll leave them on screen so you can uh digest them yourself. I am making lots of videos on my DJI Osmo Nano camera. I'm really enjoying it. I don't really use action cameras that much, but it's been a lot of fun using this. So thank you for hitting the thumbs up or the subscribe button to see more of those videos. And right here are all of my DJI Osmo Nano tips and tricks and accessories and other videos where I shoot lots of footage, sometimes not of kitchens and sometimes when it's sunny.

So, what is the best micro SD card for the DJI Osmo Nano camera? I think this is my favourite one. It's It's the one I'm using. So, I thought I'd share why I've chosen this card over the others and what features to look for as well as how to put it into the camera. I've gone for the SanDisk Extreme Pro Micro SDXC and these are the features that I've looked for. I'll go through these very quickly. So U3, you can see a U3 logo. This is the most crucial feature for 4K video. Uh it guarantees a minimum continuous right speed of 30MB/s. And it's basically your guarantee for smooth 4K video. Without it, we do risk our video stuttering or stopping altogether. And then on the back here, can you see this says video speed class V30? This is another way of indicating the same minimum continuous write speed of 30 megabytes per second. That's the speed that data is written onto the card. It's an industry standard symbol that means the card's made for high quality video. Now, you might see class 10 on the listing on Amazon, wherever you're buying your card. It's basically a speed badge, but for 4K, we really need the the U3 or the V30 signs. Also on here is A2. I didn't know what A2 means. And this rating is important if we want to use the card with the DJI Mimo app. It shows the card's ability to handle random read and write operations quickly, which makes running apps and handling small files much more efficient. And here it says write speed up to 140 megabytes per second. Apparently that's about peak performance, not sustained recording. So again, the U3 or V30 ratings are the real guarantee. Let's cut this open. Now, I like this one cuz it comes with an adapter. I can put it into my laptop. So, that's what the card looks like. But where in the camera do you put it? On the side of the DJI Nano, we have a flap, and you just push it up with your finger, make it click. The way it goes in is to have these pins facing towards the the back of the multi-functional vision dock or the monitor. And I'll just sit that into the slot. And I'm going to push it in with my fingernail. You can use a actually my nail isn't long enough. You can use the end of a bro or look here's the end of a of a knife. You push it in to bounce it out. So, if I push it in

until it clicks, and I'll just show you how to get it out. Again, you just push the card down with your fingernail or pen lid and then it bounces out. You have to be really careful when you're out and about. I've been on some professional shoots with really experienced film crews and they have popped those things out in cable cars and lost them forever. And then to make this area waterproof again, water resistant. You can see there's the rubber ring around the edge. I'm just going to push that down until it clicks. Now, what happens when I turn it on? Let's turn on the DJI Nano. So, it's connecting. So, that is how to fit a micro SD card to your DJI Osmo Nano. I hope this video has helped. If it has, thanks for saying hi down in the comments. I really appreciate it. And if you hit the subscribe button, you might be able to see all my other tips more easily for the DJI Osmo Nano. How to HARD RESET a DJI Osmo Nano camera?

Has your DJI Osmo Nano suddenly stopped working even though it's after a firmware update, showing a "No SD installed" error when the internal memory is full? If your vlogging camera is completely bricked, you're not alone. I walk you through the specifics of potential bug which I learned about from a very kind subscriber - and share potential workarounds to save your footage. Then, what is the secret hard reset button combination that will get your DJI Nano working again? This sledgehammer fix comes at a cost, but it might be the only way to recover your camera!

THIS IS THE TRANSCRIPT - CLICK PLAY ON THE VIDEO ABOVE!

Has your DJI Osmo Nano camera bricked? If you're looking up this video for how to hard reset the DJI Nano camera, I'm so sorry that you have to look this up. I got a comment from someone very kindly explained that their Osmo Nano had bricked after a firmware update. I'll go through the specific details of it, but basically it's the camera storage was full and when it's completely full, the camera didn't seem to recognize the SD card in the multi-functional vision dock. So, I'm going to go through just a couple of things to check just in case it might get around this and then I'll show you how to hard reset this camera. The problem with a hard reset is that it seems to completely wipe all of the files, all of the video files from your DJI Osmo Nano. So, it's a bit of a a brutal sledgehammer to get your camera working again. Uh, so here are the two things to check first, just in case. The first is that the DJI Osmo Nano seems to be really particular about having the camera the right way round on the vision dock before it will transfer files from the SD card to your computer. So, one thing to check, even though it's not the same problem, one thing to check might be to just try the camera the other way round on the multifunctional vision dock. The other thing to check obviously is can you access the video files via the DJI Mimo app or is it Mimo app. It might be worth connecting your camera to your phone through the app just to see if it can see any video files that way. Maybe you could temporarily transfer them to your phone just to have some kind of backup before you try doing a hard reset of the camera. Let me talk you through this very kind comment that I got that alerted me to this. Ironically, it was on my how to update the Nano firmware video. And I hope I wasn't the cause of this, but in that video, I'm saying update your firmware. It makes the camera better. Here's uh here's the comments. They've given me permission to read this comment out very kindly. Thank you. I updated my Osmo Nano last night. This morning it's bricked itself when the camera inbuilt memory became full. It would automatically restart every time I shut it down. It showed the micro SD card but kept displaying a message saying no SD installed if I tried to transfer the files. It wouldn't show up on my computer when the camera said it was connected. I searched online and found a couple of others having the same issue with their nanos, but no solutions. I performed a factory reset and got no improvement. After about 2 hours of frustration, I started trying to hard reset it by holding down first each shutter button. So that's the one on the top and the one on the side. And eventually both. I managed to recover it by holding down both the camera and the display pod shutter buttons for around 10 seconds and then releasing the camera shutter button. That's this top one while continuing to press the display pod one. Lo and behold, it resets and return to normal. All the videos that were on the camera inbuilt memory had vanished, but it seemed to be a small price to pay. I hope that will help if it happens to you or any of your subscribers. So, thank you so much for alerting me to this, but also showing me how to hard reset the DJI Osmo Nano camera. If this has affected you, please say hi in the comments and let me know if you find a workaround, obviously. And thank you so much for contacting me if your DJI Osmo Nano has bricked. It'll be really interesting to see how we can get the camera working again. If you've reached this point of the video, it's a bit of a short and sweet one, but thank you for hitting the thumbs up or the subscribe button because it really helps others to find this video and it really helps me to keep this channel going. So, thank you. And right here are all of my other DJI Osmo Nano camera videos, tips and tricks, accessories, and sample footage.

Is it worth adding a protective cover to your DJI Osmo Nano screen? I'm unboxing a tempered glass kit for the multi-functional vision dock and installing it in real time on camera.
Is adding this protection worth the £9 ($13 USD) price tag?
Plus, I show why this protection is a must-have accessory for your DJI Nano after a very close call with my DJI Action 2!

Stop Scratches! DJI OSMO NANO Screen Protector Installation Guide

TRANSCRIPT: (CLICK PLAY ON THE VIDEO ABOVE)

THIS IS THE TRANSCRIPT - CLICK PLAY ON THE VIDEO ABOVE!
If you have a DJI Osmo Nano, should you get a protective cover for your screen? I'm using this tempered glass protective screen to add a layer of protection to my multi-functional vision dock, aka the screen monitor on the DJI Nano. Is it worth doing? And how hard is it to fit one of these to one of these? So, this is how the protective glass, the protective screen arrives. It comes in a nice box. uh from that part of the world. And I'll just open it up and show you what you get in this particular protective tempered glass screen. Inside we have some guide stickers and dust absorbers. So there's a a wet wipe and a dry wipe. And in this particular kit you get three screens, I think three protective screens. So, this tempered glass screen, protective screen is obviously for the multi-functional vision dock. And then we get three of these. Oh, that's not right. I'm a bit disappointed about this because the cover is is not tempered glass. It's it's just film and I'm not sure I want that. But I'll put it on anyway to show you how it should look. But usually it's like rigid glass like this protective screen is. But this, as you can see, it's just cover film. It's not good. Now, I usually use the box as a just a stand to put everything on. Sometimes these wipes, because they've been in the warehouse for so long, they're already dried out. But these feel damp and they have like some kind of cleaning fluid. It smells chemical. And if I can get into the packet, I'm going to open up the dry wipe and use this to wipe off all of the cleaning fluid. So I can see in the sunlight that it's it's looking really good there. For the screen, one side has a peel-off film and the other side doesn't. Obviously, the side with the peel off film will be totally clean. So the trick is to take this off and land it as quickly as possible onto the screen. And it's good just to line it up just to get an idea of what kind of tolerance you have. No gaps whatsoever. So, I'm going to try and land this absolutely on the screen within the frame here. But one way to do it is to line it up and to get the guide stickers to hold it in place. So, I'll stick these onto the I've done it on the wrong side. Oh my goodness. Okay. Now, the way that these work is that you absolutely have to put the guide stickers on the other side from the side that has the adhesive film. And I'm going to line this up so that it's exactly in the right place and that it's straight and fills the corners. Yeah, that looks good. And then I'll push these stickers down as hard as possible. It's a bit tricky to do because there's a like a slope here. It's really difficult to actually line it up. So, usually you do it like that, but you can see there's already a gap at the top. So, what you'd usually do is peel this strip off and then you could lay it down and it will land perfectly. But these guide stickers just do not work at all. So, I'm going to do this by eye. Let's see if we can land it on the screen. Best place to do this, by the way, is in the bathroom. If you run some water in your bathroom, that tends to uh ionize the air and stop the dust flying around. I'm going to remove any fragments of dust and then pretty quickly I've got to get this protective screen onto the screen before any dust or pollen lands on it. Right. So, I'm going to peel off the protective film and then as quickly as possible, I'm going to try and land it onto the DJI Osmo Nano camera. Now, I don't usually do this outdoors. I'm only doing this cuz it looks good on camera and you can see everything in the sunlight. But the problem with doing this outdoors is that there's lots of dust and pollen flying around in the air. And if you just have one tiny fragment gets stuck underneath the the sticky side of the protective screen, then we'll have a bubble, which is the one thing I want to avoid. Yeah. So, I've done that. I think I've landed that correctly. And where I was lifting it up with my fingernail, the glue isn't quite as good in the corner. You can see Yeah. Up here, it's where I lifted it off. Let me show you my Action 2 camera. This is my DJI Action 2. And I put protective screens on the camera module and the screen unit. I'm glad I did because I've dropped this thing a couple of times while riding my bike in London.

Rather stupidly put the screen module on onto the lanyard because the battery was failing. And you can see the impact that that has even though there's a protective case on it. This has actually taken quite a tumble to the tarmac. So I'm really glad that I had uh protective covers. We are going to do exactly the same for the camera lens of the DJI Osmo Nano camera. And I'll take off the protective cover as well. That will give us a bit more space. Hey, you know, I actually dropped it in the sea on my vlogging video. So, I think I'm going to give it a wipe all over because I don't really want seawater salt crystals forming. And then I'll get the dry wipe. Give that a wipe. I'm going to hold up the sticky transparent film just to see how much edge I need to give it. So, the ones I've bought aren't cheap. They are £9 in the UK, which I think is something like $13. And we've got some uh mowing. The neighbors have decided to come out mowing. I'm going to take off the adhesive sticker. It's on one half. Brilliant. So, I've got one half that I can stick on. Oh, that's quite I've got a good target there. Oh, it feels really cheap. This is the first time I've used protective film. I much prefer the tempered glass. I can't I'm going to have to get a knife or something to Oh, there you go. You can pull it off. This protective film is now protecting the the lens cover from scratches. I much prefer though to have glass on there. My perfectionism that that is doing my head in. So, I'm going to do it again. I think that's a fingerprint where I touched it trying to line it up. So, I'm going to take this off. And it's quite easy. You just prize it off with your fingernail. And you can see the the the bubble rising if I take it off. There it goes. So, off that screen goes. So, this will clean off all the residue from that last screen. Then I'll take off the protective film again on this side. So, the adhesive side is this side. Let's see if I can land it on the camera now. I've had practice at this. So, I'm trying to land it on one side. There we go. I think that's a good landing. Yes, I can see the glue taking. And this time, look at that. That That is a level up. Uh, my DJI Osmo Nano camera screen, multi-functional vision dock, is completely protected now. So, this is how the camera looks with a protective screen on the lens. I hold it up to the camera again. You can see, I mean, you can definitely tell there's transparent film on there, but on the footage, hopefully, it's completely invisible. I will be looking at this in the edit and checking to make sure that having that transparent film on the lens cover doesn't affect the picture quality at all. But from here, it's looking that's looking really good. And it's it's really reassuring to know that if I was to drop it, at least I've covered the screen and the the lens cover with something that will just stop it getting scratched once it hits the tarmac or whatever surface it hits. So, what do you think? Is this something that you might be doing with your DJI Osmo Nano? Say hi in the comments below. Thank you for hitting the thumbs up and thank you for hitting the subscribe button because it really helps me to keep this channel going. DJI OSMO NANO: How To Update Firmware - real time step-by-step

Need to update the firmware on your DJI Osmo Nano but not done it before?
You're not alone!
In this real-time, step-by-step walkthrough, I guide you through the entire firmware update process using the DJI Mimo app: everything from finding the new firmware and enabling automatic downloads.
Let's get your Nano camera running on the latest software.

DJI OSMO NANO: How To Update Firmware (real time walkthrough...)

TRANSCRIPT: (CLICK PLAY ON THE VIDEO ABOVE)

THIS IS THE TRANSCRIPT - CLICK PLAY ON THE VIDEO ABOVE!

How do you update the firmware on your DJI Osmo Nano camera? I'm going to do this right now in real time. The firmware, as you might know, is the software that controls a device, and we need to keep it up to date because the new firmware fixes bugs and things that don't work, and it also adds new features to the camera. So, it is useful, but it is a pain. It's a pain in the backside to have to update it. That's why I'm doing this on camera so you can see what the process is like if you've never done this before. I've got the DJI Mimo app up on screen now and it's telling me that it's found new firmware. So, there's new firmware that we can add to this camera to make it better. So, what I'll do is click on found new firmware. And it's instantly gone into a screen saying download firmware. you're watching this in the future, so the firmware will be even more up to date than this. There's a list of what it's added in this particular firmware update. There's an option here, a check box that allows us to download new firmware automatically whenever we're connected to Wi-Fi. I'll tick that box. Now, I'm going to hit download. And it's reminding me that because I'm outside, I'm not near my Wi-Fi network. It says, "Do you want me to download using the mobile network?" I do. I'll speed up this section now and we'll see how quickly it downloads the firmware to the DJI Mimo app. I ask this in every video. Is it DJI Mimo or DJI Mimo? I don't know. Now, when the download hits 50%, it stops and it invites you to install firmware. So, the button at the bottom turns blue and it says install. So, I'm going to click this button now. And it says device not connected. So, we need to connect the device. So, get your DJI Nano camera. Turn it on. Now, we can hit the connect button. And it's looking for the device. It's found it. So, I'll hit connect. And now we need to hit the install button again. I don't know why I use the word hit rather than click or tap. Smash that install button. Right, it's now installing it onto the camera. It says update in progress. Wait 2 minutes. Please stay connected to the camera. Update success. So, it says update success on the app. I'm going to hit click done. And now it's connecting to the camera. So, I'm going to press the connect button. And it looks like it's connected. Now, on here it says playback in progress on app. I'm going to click on back to live view. And that's it. Your camera is now up to date with the very latest software from DJI. It really should be as simple as that. Uh, I know setting up the DJI Mimo app isn't fun, but you need to do that to get the camera started anyway. So, this should be all set up and good to go. So, I hope this walk through helps you to update your firmware whenever firmware, new firmware appears in the app. If you've reached this point in the video, thank you for hitting the thumbs up or the subscribe button. It really helps me to keep this channel going. And right here are all my other DJI Osmo Nano tips and tricks, accessories, and sample footage videos.

Is the DJI Osmo Nano's "Super Night" mode actually any good?
Here's lots of night time sample footage in a dark train station to put the low-light features to the ultimate test - to show you exactly how the Super Night footage looks straight out of the camera.
I also compare the DJI Nano against the DJI Pocket 3 head-to-head to see which camera handles the dark.

This is supernight. I don't know if you can see any difference. And I'll turn around. Uh, so you get different lighting effects on my face. Whoa. And actually, I'm standing under a standing under a lamp post that is automatically coming on uh and off. That doesn't help my SuperNight test. I've filmed some more shots in Supernight of trains arriving at the station. Trains arriving and leaving. Uh just to give you an idea of what Super night looks like with movement.

This is super night mode.
This train has 10 carriages.

[Music] And that looked quite well lit. Even though it's it's nighttime, it's well, it's dark turning to nighttime uh with lamp lights. Uh that that seem to that seem to look okay, right?

You know, don't think I've said this, but I really miss being able to zoom in on the Pocket 3. You can just kind of punch in and get a bit closer. I really, that's the only thing I miss with this camera, the DJI Nano, is the inability to cut close. So, what I'm going to do is I'm going to cut close in the edit on Super Night, so you can see if it's any good.

"The next train to leave platform one is the 1930 service to London." [Music]
Here's a comparison between the DJI Pocket 3 uh with no Super Night on and the DJI Osmo Nano with Super night on. We got lots of weird uh lighting going on cuz the lights are automatic. When the train came in, it tripped up all of the the um street lights, the lamps.

So this is the DJI Nano on super night mode and the DJI Pocket 3 just uh with no Super Night on [Music] [Train Noise] [Music] I forgot to say this thing is magnetic. So come over here. Look, watch this. I can just stick it to a post like that and you can get a groovy shot. So you can walk away and just walk past it. You know there's vlogging shots. I'll do one of those walking walk past vlogging shots.

[Music] Nice. Brilliant. Can you please help my dad get to 1 million subscribers? Just click on his face. Thanks. Bye. Can we have dinner now?

CHROMLIVES CAMERA HANDLE HAND GRIP

Looking to see how the DJI Osmo Nano footage actually looks? This is a short, straightforward comparison video filled with unedited sample clips to show you the different stabilization and field of view options.
I test the camera on the streets and beach of Brighton across all the main settings:
Stabilization Off (Ultra Wide, Wide, and Standard)
RockSteady stabilization (Ultra Wide, Wide, and Standard)
Horizon Balancing (The one setting that keeps your horizon level, even when your hand or body is wobbling!)
Then some walking shots on Rocksteady with different fields of view (FOV).
See how the Nano handles a moving landscape and check out the built-in internal microphone.

This is with stabilization turned off. I'll show you the different settings with this view of the pier here at Brighton. So, this is stabilization off ultra wide
and this is stabilization... stabilization off and wide.
stabilization off and standard dewarp.
This is with rock steady stabilization now. And this is ultra wide. Rocksteady.
Rocksteady wide. So we've just punched in a little bit there. This is just wide on the rock steady setting.
It looks like there's a storm coming in, doesn't it? But this is rocksteady and standard (dewarp).

Finally, horizon balancing. And the only field of view you can have with horizonbalancing, I didn't realize this, is the standard dewarp. So, this is the only uh the field of view for horizon balancing. Now, if I turn it on myself, uh it means that I can wobble my hand to my heart's content and it should keep that horizon uh level behind me. Oh, have I got something on the lens? That might have been that might have been completely pointless if I've got I've got latte on my lens. Uh but anyway, you get the gist. It's just to give you an idea of how the the different modes look with a... a landscape. I'm going to go over here now. Yeah. And going on about this measly just from a song, but everyone say that. Oh, I've not seen that. In English. Yeah. On Wednesday. Yeah. She said okay everyone turn to page 6...7 of the Christmas Carol and everyone went 6! 7! And she was like "what?!"

Oh yeah, that is rust. I remember you'd scare me cuz in the IKEA carpark Yeah. there would be um rust splattered on the walls. Oh yeah. I would ask while on your shoulders. Yeah. And I'd ask you Is this um um is this blood? Yes. And keep bouncing me in the gaps to scare me. Oh yeah, I remember that. Yeah, it's ketchup. I think something like that. Someone exploded a sachet.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I remember walking home a couple of years ago from school. Yeah. You know the alleyway that's by the infant school? Yeah. Someone had like literally just got see if you saw the after. It was It was actually It definitely wasn't an accident. It was like a whole bottle of ketchup squirted on the wall. Yeah. I feel really bad for whoever lived there and the next day it was washed up, I think. Yeah. Yeah, it's quite sad.

We're going to go flavor and scent. Sorry, I need to say this is rocksteady ultra wide. Yeah. I I know flavor and scent, but it came out of FL. Are they making every flavor and scent for vapes now? Yeah, I guess you can have any flavor you want. What? Like cookie dough? Yeah. Cookie dough vape with a brown vape. Yeah.
Is it?
So, I told you, didn't I, that um Nanny would always take us to Brighton and she'd always want to get to the station. There'll be like the train in a few minutes. You'll be running up this hill. That's where you... massive stitch. Yeah.
Yeah.
Rocksteady standard dewarp.
again.

So, this is RockSteady standard Dewarp with uh internal microphone on the camera. I've got the just holding it in front of me. Uh not even stretched out. How big is my face?

This is where things get fiddly. So, I'm going to start up my DJI Mimo app and I'm going to show you how I'm pairing it so that you can you might learn from my mistakes. So, I'm going to turn on the camera. Oh, I've got low battery in the vision dock. I might need to connect a cable. Right. So, it says Osmo Nano already disconnected. Power on camera and place close to multi-functional vision dock. Where's the camera? What have I done with the camera? and I'll hit connect. And then it goes through the the opening menu again. So, we'll choose English. Whoa. And as if by magic, it Oh, it it found the camera. I just hit the camera icon at the bottom there. And I didn't even have to use the QR code. It just found the camera. So, if I hit connect, that's incredible. Check verification code on DJI device. Well, that looks similar. So, I'll hit accept on the camera. Then we have the terms and conditions where you know we hand over everything everywhere for all time ever. Agree. Activate Osmo Nano. Activate your Osmo device when you connect it for the first time to receive warranty. So I choose allow access. Then hit next. I don't want to show you my email address, but I've hit the activate button. DJI Care. Don't want that. I'll skip that. which is quite a bold move given how many DJI cameras I've broken. Uh questionnaire. Don't want to do that. Activation successful. Fantastic. So, I hit get started. Enjoy live view in DJI Mimo. Is it myo or MIMO? I ask that in every video I make. Manage files with efficiency. And there's uh tutorials for advanced skills. And update firmware regularly. So, now we are downloading firmware. I'll speed this up now to download to 50%. We can choose to install. I... I'll uncheck this box because I can do it off the uh off the mobile. It says device not connected. So I'll hit connect. Now I can continue installing the firmware. Update success. That's good. So I'll hit done. And now it reconnects to the camera. You can see on the screen here it says updated. There we go. So, we can see the the files on the phone. They have a date of 1980. I'll click back to live view on the camera and I'll click the camera button here. And just like the multi-functional vision dock, I can I can see myself on the on the phone. So, I can record using the Mimo.

DJI OSMO NANO VS DJI POCKET 3 which is best for YOUR videos?

TRANSCRIPT: (CLICK PLAY ON THE VIDEO ABOVE)

THIS IS THE TRANSCRIPT - CLICK PLAY ON THE VIDEO ABOVE!
Now, I'm recording the footage you're seeing now on my DJI Pocket 3 camera, which I adore. I absolutely love the footage that comes from this. And maybe this is a good comparison for you. But the problem with it is that it's so delicate. I've honestly I've had really bad uh moments of terror with my Pocket 3 and my Pocket One as well. I put this camera on the wall and it just fell off.

the magnetism wasn't uh strong enough to hold it to the metal thing in the wall. It is so nice having a camera that I can just hold at this kind of distance. It doesn't have to be like that like my Sony ZV1. I can hold it like this and it it just feels really comfortable. It's so light. Um if you want a hand grip, I'll put a link in the description. It feels so good. And it also feels good that I could just drop this. I... I could hurl it into the grass and I know it'll be okay. I've got one other immediate first impression. It's a bit of a niggle. Let's turn the camera around. And it might just be the the suction cup holder, but this magnetic holder here with the multi-function view thing. I forgot what it's called now. Look. Look at the wobble on it. It really wobbles.

Uh, I don't know if it's because of the weight of the stack, but if I put the camera straight onto this, it's it's pretty rock steady to use DJI's term, but this this is big wobble wobble wobble. that obviously you probably won't even see it on screen because of the stabilization, but it's a little bit a little bit irritating if I'm going to be really finicky. And maybe should I give you a little comparison? Just quick comparison. I'm going to make a whole video about this comparing the DJI Osmo Nano with the DJI Pocket 3. But just for the fun of it, let's just give you a quick comparison. So, I'm holding the two cameras side by side. I'll just give you a pan. Let's see if we can catch up with Casper. I'm holding the cameras in a really strange way. Just hold side by side just to give you as close a comparison as possible. So, this is the DJI Osmo Nano and this is the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. Does it have the word Osmo in it? I don't know. the DJI Pocket 3. I'll just cut between them again. So, this is DJI Nano and let's run up to Casper. Casper, come here. Come. Good boy. Come. And this is the Pocket 3 just to give you a comparison. I'm sure there are settings in here that might be uh affecting things, but just as kind of a first glance cutting between the two, it'll just give you an idea of uh what the differences might be straight out of the box for the DJI Nano. Let's do some movement. Casper's not playing ball. Come here, Casper. Casper, good boy, Casper. Right, let's go. Go in.

Good boy. I'm now going to wear the DJI Osmo Nano hidden under here. I'm wearing the lanyard. If I turn it round, it should just snap on without grabbing too many chest hairs. There we go. So, this is me walking around on Dewarp and horizon balancing stabilization. It's so steady. I'm like a human tripod. And this is how it looks to wear. It's a bit difficult to gauge from the different videos online of how big this looks. Does it look like a brooch? Uh, I'll let you be the the judge of that. This is how it looks to wear. And if I cut back to the camera, I mean, it's quite a boring It's quite a boring shot, isn't it? Because it's so steady. And this is where the hat clip comes in. I've got the hat clip that's fresh from where Casper was wearing it. If I take off the camera, it's a really strong magnet, and then put on the hat clip and then clip the nano to the hat clip, I can now have some control over the tilting. So, if I cut back to the Nano, I've got a bit less sky now. So, that is a much better shot. I mean, obviously on my chest, the camera is protruding somewhat and it's wobbling as well because, you know, the the weight of it is now away from the lanyard and it's kind of pulling on my shirt. So, it is wobbling around. It's not very discreet at all. But if I cut back to the Nano's point of view, you can see that it's a much better framed shot. And if I tilt it down even more, I can tilt it down on the hat clip. So, I can really focus on the on the path here. You've got some degree of controlling the the frame while you're wearing it, but it does look really stupid. Look at it. It's just wobbling around. Not that you could tell that from the footage. If I cut back to the camera, it's so steady. That's the rock steady stabilization. Wow, this is much more footage than I thought I was going to take. This was supposed to be just uh opening the box first impressions review. I've I've tried to show you some things on the camera. So, what do you think? Is this something that you might use for your YouTube channel? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. I just get these things out the box and start recording. So, I hope there's something in this video that you might find useful if you're deciding whether or not to get one of these. I've put all my DJI Osmo Nano videos into this playlist on screen now. And obviously, if you hit subscribe, you'll be able to see my updates. I'll I'll share how things go with this camera. Thank you for hitting the thumbs up button if you've made it to this point in the video and good luck with your DJI Osmo Nano.
