Landline telephone numbers - DAD LESSONS FOR MY KIDS

DAD LESSONS FOR MY KIDS -Landline telephone numbers-

Life in 2013:

Having a landline telephone number is a bit like having a tax on being over 30 years old.

Baby Disco Playlist - Toddler tracks...

Started a playlist for a baby or toddler disco...

Stuff that's good to jump around or wave arms to.

It currently stands at this:

Puss N' Boots, by Adam & The Ants

Daddy Cool, by Boney M

National Express, by Divine Comedy

You're The First, The Last, My Everything, by Barry White

Pop Goes The World, by Men Without Hats

That's Not My Name, by The Ting Tings

Americanos, by Holly Johnson

Mr. Blue Sky, by Electric Light Orchestra

Don't Stop Me Now, by Queen

Go West, by Village People

Sailing on the Seven Seas of Blue, by Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark

El Bimbo (French Version) by Marien

Star Wars Theme, by Meco

Click here to leave your Toddler Disco suggestions...

And while I'm here, I'm fascinated by the stories behind
Go West
El Bimbo
- can't avoid bunging all the versions on here somehow somewhere sometime.

Essay on the stock music of the Benny Hill Show - Favourite things on the web

Added this to my ever growing list of favourite posts on the web...

Essay on Stock Music by William Brown
http://runstop.de/music07.html

It's a complete list of every piece of incidental music on The Benny Hill Show.

Everyone talks about 'that' tune that ended the show... but I always loved the bits of music launched by cavorting Hills Angels that then segued to become the music beds that scored the sketches...

Wish I could link to some kind of official channel, but FremantleMedia seems to have removed every single trace of the Thames Television series of "The Benny Hill Show". (An alternative view to how this kind of geoblocking risks going down is here, under The Great Disruption...)

But this list lead me to these obscure (to me) gems from the "Cruise Liner" sketches sequence on Ep1 from 1983...

Michel Delpech - Pour un flirt 1971

Phoebe Cates - Paradise (music & lyrics)

Click here for all my favourite bits of the web,
(including Teal and Orange - Hollywood, Please Stop the Madness, and the worst ever showbiz autobiography ever written, by Danny Baker)

FRIDAY NIGHT TODDLER ART GALLERY - Sugar and Spice and All Things LINES

Welcome to another Friday night opening of our gallery of Toddler Art.
Basically, our kids destroying the house, one installation at a time, while we're not looking.
It all started with “Sprinkles

Then came Green Crayon Squiggles at Sofa's End, "Fence Behind Your Head", "Artist with Permanent Red on Whiteboard", "Freedom Corner", "Pencil Food", "Pencil Food Oh", "Two Lines from my Doctor's Desk", "Lines Behind the Dining", "Telephone Line" and a few others.

This week it's...

Sugar and Spice and All Things LINES

5B Graphite Pencil on Pink Mothercare changing mat

We think this might be a work by the female Artist.

If so, it could be seen as a commentary on pre-determined gender roles.

Or maybe it's just a warming up of the pencil used in "PENCIL RAMPAGE" (Coming to the Friday Night Toddler Art Gallery soon).

Engaging kids with online content - what are they looking for?

Seen this video, and think it's brilliant: Maurice Wheeler talking about how to engage 6-12 year olds with online content.

No idea now whether to add this to my 'writing' hub, or all my online links to help explain 'The Great Disruption'.

Think I'll put it on the writing hub, because it's about everything that's human, rather than what's going on with the times we're currently going through.

Engaging Kids Online: Maurice Wheeler at TEDxTransmedia 2012

- Why are children drawn to Facebook? What needs does it satisfy?

Here are the development stages:
Copy Cat

Role Player

Control Freak
- The world is scary - time to take control:
1 Collecting - match attacks - Club Penguin puffles
2 Nurturing - pets - Moshi Monsters
3 Customising - changing how bedroom looks - stickers - Habbo Hotel

~ SOCIAL CHASM ~ (FROM SOLO ALL ABOUT ME TO...)
Tribal Sharer (8/9/10 yrs)
- How you fit in:
1 Badging - facebook
2 Communication - bbm messaging
3 Peer Comparison (competition, or body image) - gaming

Identity Explorer
- Testing new identities:
(eg different circles of friends at guides, church or gym)
Different personalities on different social networks

Confident Consumer

What's also cool about the above is that we don't fully grow out of the stages...

Favourite things on the web - Behind the Scenes at the final days of 30ROCK

Added this to my list of fave things on the web

Tom Ceraulo @tceraulo on "Behind The Scenes at the final days of 30 Rock"
On the last page of Tina's script, the words "END OF SERIES" were circled, and "–30–," journalism jargon for "end of story," was written beneath them. I'd typed "END OF SERIES" into the script the night before without thinking much of it, but seeing it there alongside the show creator's handwriting was profoundly moving. I snapped a photo and put it up on Instagram.

Whirlee Kills - FRIDAY NIGHT TODDLER ART GALLERY

Welcome to another Friday night opening of our gallery of Toddler Art.
Basically, our kids destroying the house, one installation at a time, while we're not looking.

It all started with “Sprinkles

Then came Green Crayon Squiggles at Sofa's End, "Fence Behind Your Head", "Artist with Permanent Red on Whiteboard", "Freedom Corner", "Pencil Food", "Pencil Food Oh", "Two Lines from my Doctor's Desk", "Lines Behind the Dining", "Telephone Line" and a few others.

This week it's...

Whirlee Kills

Pink ASDA Chunky Chalks Chalk on Red plastic Whirlee
Think it's obvious which one of the two (boy, girl) Artists is responsible with this.

It's almost reminiscent of the 'kills' scorecard on a World War II fighter aircraft.

Perhaps it's a count of new artworks delivered around the house from the Artist.
